I use styrene strips to mount a Serpa to a vest. It works really well and is easy to do.

 

You have to pick the molle straps with a puny flat screwdrivers from the bottom part, then slide it, it is really time consuming, most of the time the molle straps on the vest are not of the same size.

 

Yes, you are going to have to lift the MOLLE strap to get the SERPA mount under the strap. Make sure you are mounting it where you are going to want it because once you do, it's on there and will be a super pain in the butt to get off.

Just repeating what fioski and goaltendah1 are saying about the SERPA MOLLE attachment. It is a mega-pain to get on and you better be happy with where it is because once it's on, it isn't going to be easy to get off. I think once, I ended up splitting the MOLLE straps on the part where the bottom part hooks on so I could focus on getting the outer top hooks strapped in well.

Also, be careful getting the holster on that attachment once you have it on. The pins on them shear very easily. They look great, but they're really touchy.

If I can pick up another vest cheaply I'll try removing some of the MOLLE stitching in order to get it to fit but I don't want to wreck this vest if it doesn't work out.

 

Well it's me again asking more daft questions...

I recently managed to pick up a SS Serpa holster MOLLE attachment after a fairly long search (thanks striker ) but now i can't get the bloody thing attached to the vest.

It seems really difficult to get on as the MOLLE sections aren't very even on the vest so I tried carefully snipping away some material but it still seems that there isn't much room to fit the attachment under the loops, so basically either the loops on the vest are going to snap or the attachment will snap.

I really had my heart set on using it so if anyone has any tips for getting this part on I'd be very grateful.

There is more than one way to skin a cat.

If the plastic mounting plate is too large to hook under the molle loops, then trim the mounting plate down with a sharp hobby knife until it does.

Is this the type of mounting plate that you have?
If it is, then you should have enough plastic there to trim it down so it will fit.
