I agree completely. When will DiD make a Bar man? I still like the weary, realistic sculpt although the goatee is a little questionable. I already have a lot of bazooka stuff from BBi and DML.

 

I wish they would do better sculpts, they do some of the ugliest faces.

 

Ugly as in "not handsome" or ugly as in "terrible sculpt"? I happen to thing that this new sculpt has a lot of character. Very "everyday looking face". Looks like your average person, not a movie star.

Unless this is a new body it seems they cleverly try to give us the illusion of new body dimensions by giving the sculpt this long neck. The sculpt is buttugly, but not in the way a lot of the other DiD heads are... it's an ugly guy.

You guys have to enlighten me though, where would this man be stationed?

I too like the sculpt and think it has a nice war weary look. I generally like DiD bodies as well so there will be no need to split em apart.

If all the "pretty people" went off to war... Dating would be a lot easier.

I second that Kneejoint. I like how he looks like a real person from the WWDeuce era down to the hairstyle.

 

Like the HS myself. Looks like a "real" person. My only complaint is what seems to be a trend lately with WW2 and Goatees.

If he had the overall scruffy, unshaven look, that would be fine. But not the goatee.

Other than that, I like this release. Plenty of good bashing fodder.

I gotta side with Did on this one... for military figures I'd rather have a bunch of realistic uglies than a bunch of ***** movie star heads.. will probably have to grab one of these.

 

I like the HS allot, Id get the figure just for that. I can see the HS as a grizzled old sergeant (vietnam era of course )

Good figure and fine period headsculpt.
I have a number of WWII pix that my dad took of fellow GIs.
He fought from Tunisia all the way up to Austria.
The face and hair are all vintage 1940's :bravo

 

It looks like they fixed the leggings (no info stamped on the outside), and offered the early war HBT bottoms to go with the George Puller HBT top. INteresting so far.

 

That HS looks to be a sculpt of a character from a cartoon strip...but I canna remember which one. It's as ugly as has been said but welcome none the less.

Red Heat, among many other roles he's played...sometimes Russian, sometimes not.

 

I got to admit they are very good with the detail. They are probably ahead of Dragon and Bluebox. But please...the figures body is obsolete like the old figures. Headsculpt are very good except most of them old, which is not alarming coz it shows maturity which on the bright side is good too. The extra head of Puller and Ross, I attached it to a HT neck post and tried it on all the type of body I have wow it was a standout on BS, BBI and HT. One more thing, it is annoying attaching gears on their M1 pouch belt. The grommets seems uncooperative. The snap-on opening of the pouches is most likely to break easily...Some of mine are.

 

One thing to add, Their headsculpt is not ugly...it looks like weary pissed AVERAGE JOES which is good.

 

i like the lines around the neck and on his face. looks like he's been through a lot!

 

I would be down with getting this figure, if not just for the h/s.

 

Finally.....an average GI from WWII complete with everything he would carry for TA50. I like the scuplt as well, avergae could be anyone sculpt and looking at it again it looks a bit like my grandfather when he fought in WWII. Must get for me. Kidos to DiD for this offering.

You won't see any arguments on this one from me. This guy has everything you need right out of the box.

DML is still doing the nickel and dime job of making sure the entire US side of the war, according to their figures, only had M1 carbines.

I hope DID eventually does a US WW2 Paratrooper set up like this guy, fully loaded regular grunt.

definitely love the new gas mask bag and bazooka stuff. the haversack is also most welcome. Other parts of this figure i'm not too excited about such as the HBT pants. I wasn't very impressed with the hbt pants on Merill and i'm assuming these will be just about the same. still good G.I. probably buy 1 and some loose parts from this figure.
