Is it Fact or is it Fiction?

I would love to see a Hot Toys Marty Mcfly.

Why does everything have to be a DX!? Just MMS would be just fine. Why does HT now assume that all fans of the licenses they're doing are all loaded!?

It's all about the Benjamins and screwing as much of ours out of us as they can. 2012 is fast becoming a year where I may have to take my interests elsewhere!

CHEERS!

I couldn't agree more Roger.
DX seems to becoming the norm for HT, what's next XDX - as in extra deluxe?

I was kooking at their new Luke Skywalker earlier and it made me think, when did it become acceptable for an action figure to cost more than a new TV?

My last major purchase (last month) was a 2002 HT figure that I paid ÂŁ120 for, this time last year I would never have paid that much for a figure. It's mental I tell you.

I would absoutely love to have a BTTF figure but not for the equivilant of a bloody car payment.

I know, I know, it's all about what the market can bear and supply and demand and rising oil prices and blah, blah, blah but it is still ******* expensive!

My guess is, there's a good chance they will do it, perhaps like the Superman release, part of the proceeds will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

The new MJF body being created will not only serve this trilogy, but potentially other franchises such as Harry Potter. With the popularity of Back to the Future and the lack of proper 1/6 representation, HT will have an easy winner if this is all true, more than justifying the development cost.

I agree, the many DX releases and ever rising price points are gradually alienating many diehard fans. That said, let's have some speculative fun until this is confirmed:

DX Marty Part I - Sleeveless bubble jacket outfit, yellow radiation suit, Johnny B. Goode outfit with guiter
DX Marty Part II - Futuristic jacket outfit, Biker jacket and hat outfit, Hoverboard
DX Marty Part II - Clint Eastwood outfit, Seamus McFly outfit and alternate head

I'm not holding my breath. I'm a huge fan of the Trilogy, but until there's a formal announcement I won't feel overly excited by this. There's waaay too much disinformation (about many things, in general, on the Internet) that I have become a bit of a pessimist about news that are too good to be true. (Must be age.)

I would buy both figures and the car and call it quits from hot toys as they would have cleared out my checking account with this, but it would be worth it, I was raised on those movies.

WOWSERS!!

I really hope its ficition. Not to say its not a dream come true, but the truth is that im already stretched WAY TOO THIN on my budget for 1/6 figures (had to cancel a lot of preorders).

my bank account is gonna take a pretty hard hit from the 1989 batman figures, not to mention the possible 1/6 batmobile..........

About the only people capable of amassing a decent HT collection now are the board members!

The worst thing about all this is that other companies seem to think it gives them free reign to jack up their prices as well, and for no reason other than they can!

I saw the DML Astronaut in my retailer the other day, they wanted ÂŁ179 for it!! Last time I saw it in there it was ÂŁ100 less!

I'd actually rather someone independent did BTTF stuff. Trev's there with the heads, we just need the bodies and gear.

CHEERS!

I think it's gotten to the point where companies like HT are keeping people in and forcing people out of the hobby. For example, I'm more interested in high-end, great looking highly detailed & finished licensed products than in mass-market stuff that's considerably cheaper; after all, anyone can make "okay" stuff - but truly great pieces are worth the wait. HT works for me.

But I can also see that the costs make it prohibitive for others. That's why, in addition to HT, Mattel is making Superman movie figures also. Twenty years ago, I'd have been thrilled to have the Mattel version on my shelf, but in 2011 it looks like a 1991 toy to me - I can't rationalize buying it. I'd rather have fewer, but better, figures. Your mileage may vary of course.

FWIW Mattel is also doing Back to the Future, I expect them to be similar to their other 12" figures (altho probably not as nice as their flawed, but still okay Ghostbuster figures). At least there will be something in a lower price range.

I don't know for sure, but i expect the DX designation may have more to do with licensing costs than anything else - sure the figures are decked out - they ought to be for that kind of money - but I would guess that license costs are higher, production costs are higher, and overall sales are probably down or flat due to the economy. Something has to give, so Star Wars pieces need to be $300 DXs. Thats said, the Luke looks like a great deal to me, alto there's considerable heartache & stress dropping $300 at once, you're getting two full figures and a dio piece. If you can afford it, buy two of the SS exclusive and part out one - I bet you get enough return to pay for the both!

If the Skywalker DX really has all the parts for two complete figures, it actually represent a much better deal than any other recent Hot Toys figure. $150 per figure seems like a pretty damn good deal to me and is a good rebuttal to all the people who keep saying we shouldn't complain about paying $200 for a single figure with little in way of accessories.

I don't buy the "it's really 2 figures" argument. It's the same guy with variations. If they gave you Bespin Luke and Lando, or Bespin Luke and X wing Luke- those are different figures. But the same guy with a different outfit does not justify $270 to me (the cheapest I've seen so far). Don't get me wrong, it's a wonderful piece, but I'll agree that more and more of us are being forced to choose between a family vacation and Luke, Superman, and Iron Monger.
