Help with Phicen Female Body Color & a Matching Head

I am new to the Phicen dolls. I just received this Phicen body and head from a friend. Can anyone tell me the body color and what type of head would match the skin tone? (Hubby thinks the skin tone is from a cadaver) And why does the neck look so short? Would appreciate any help.

thanks,
Karen

Hi. It would be helpful to know what specific Phicen action figure body you are using. For example, one of the recent Phicen (now TBLeague) bodies is designated PLMB2017-S23B (where the last part, S23B, is the most important identifier). As for the head sitting too low on the neck, the culprit is probably the depth of the inside neck connector within the head. With this head, it sits too deep/high up, resulting in the apparent shortening of the neck. If you were to use it on that model of Phicen body, then you need to improvise. You could loosen the inside neck connector socket (which could be very difficult in some cases) and detach it, then you can move the head's position up or down on the loose connector as needed. Or if that proves impossible, stuff something -- air drying clay, tacky, foamies, whatever -- below the inside neck connector socket so that the head can sit at the right height on the Phicen/TBLeague neck. But again, you would need to match the head and body skin tones a bit more closely. Modern TBLeague bodies come in two skintones, pale and ("new") suntan. I am not sure which one you have here (need the body model identifier), but the head is obviously too dark. There are many head sculpts that work with the new suntan, but without the identifier, I am not sure what you are working with here.

For that particular HS you might be better off checking a Jiaou Doll “Wheaten”; it won’t be exact, but nothing really will. As far as what will match the body you have, GubernatorFan is right. You either have a Pale, in which many of the “Asian” HS (avoid Kumik at all cost) will match, or you have Suntan, which can be a little tricky (unless you buy a loose TBLeague/Phicen sculpt loose (check out monkeydepot.com for loose heads under TBLeague, as they have the best prices for them loose). This hobby, unfortunately, is a lot of experimentation.

Agreed. From the photo, the Phicen/TBLeague body in question looks (new?) suntan to me, but this depends on light, computer screen, etc, which is why I ask for the body's model identifier. Phicen's "old" suntan or better yet tan might work better, but is harder to find, and pretty much always with the floppy-footed bodies that cannot really stand on their own (except if given a certain type of boots). Jiaou's "wheat" body would probably be a slight improvement too, but from the original post it seems that kolmankreations is looking for a head to match the body, not the other way round. Stryker's note about Kumik is well put -- in most cases their heads are too orangish (warm hue) for the Phicen/TBLeague bodies.

Unfortunately, good luck finding any of the pre-New Suntan bodies. Just received two of the so-called Old Suntan, the ones that come with heads, and despite having the old head sculpts, they are on the new Suntan bodies, which is beyond annoying. Why those idiots at Phicen chose to go with a barely noticeable color difference from Pale to Suntan is beyond me. It’s starting to make their bodies worthless as kitbashing fodder since they don’t match anything unless you want a ton of just Asian females.

Yes. It’s the same head. I have that series of HS from Super Duck and they are really hard to match to anything currently on the market. I just spent the entire day going through all my HS, and I have all six of the Jiaou Doll body colors, and some of the old and new Phicens (including the Tomoe pink bodies, the Tan, etc), and I couldn’t find anything that was a decent match to those. They are an odd mix of orange and pink (not quite as orange as the Kumiks, but still odd). They kind of fall somewhere between Jiaou’s Natural and Wheaten. I really wish if these manufacturers were going to base their HS/clothing kits on a specific body that they’d at least pull their heads out of their butts and get the color match correct.

It sounds like a reasonable idea, which is perhaps why it isn't happening...

Ok, here's a quick sample of 1/6 scale head sculpts on the S02A body -- I am just showing whatever matched well from among the heads I had lying around within easy reach. You should have no trouble finding them on (e.g.) eBay if you type "1/6 [identifier] head" or something along those lines. All of these are "custom" or "knockoff" heads, meaning they did not come from super expensive boxed figures. All (except maybe the blonde Scarlett Johansson, which I seem to have modified) had loose inside neck connectors, meaning that you could manipulate how high the head sits on the neck, as needed. I hope this helps.

If you want your figure to be able to stand on its own and you want this same skin tone, you can get yourself an S12D body (which comes with solid detachable feet), although it has some issues (wrists become very wobbly or damaged once you try to swap them, skeleton can poke thought "skin", less detailed/realistic); the later bodies are better, but all paler in skin tone even if still designated "suntan" (which is why we call it "new suntan" on here).

Be aware, however, if searching for the so-called “older” numbers (S02 - S12D, etc), that TBLeague has made new runs of these bodies, with the New Suntan, not the original shade. I just received two of the 2014 run bodies (the ones that used to come with HS), and despite the heads being the original color, the bodies do not match since they are not the original shade. Prior to this I’ve ordered different S02 - S12D, and the same thing: same body shape, but with the New Suntan. Very annoying. The old Suntan bodies are long sold out, making the old numbering system obsolete when it comes to color differences.

It depends how in-depth you want to get with colour matching, but you might consider using chalk. If you have a modicum of artistic ability, you can use a small make-up sponge/brush to apply chalk pastels (the kind of things kids colour-in with) to re-colour your bodies to match any head. Inscribe Soft Pastel Set - 24 Colours: Amazon.co.uk: Toys & Games

Use any cheap chalk pastels and just scrub the desired colour on a nail file or light sandpaper so you have a small pile of dust. Dip your sponge/brush in and lightly paint away. Test on an area less obvious, such as an armpit or the back of the neck.
A word of warning. This option is NOT permanent and although it is pretty solid once applied, it will rub off if you are handling the figure a lot, I would also imagine it will transfer onto very light clothing, again if handled a lot. One advantage, pastels should wash off, both clothing and the body, if needed. (I've tested washing it off the body with 100% results, but not needed to wash it off clothing, yet)

I have the exact head you posted on an S09C body and it matched horribly (she almost looks sunburned, I'm not sure what super duck were thinking). Now I've chalked the body, you would think the head came with it. And in fact, I use a white bikini top on that figure and haven't had any issues with transfer yet (I don't move it much though).

If you want a totally new head that definitely fits that skin-tone. I can confirm the Kimi KT005 head matches almost totally to the older Phicen suntan skin tone. So close it looks like it was meant for it. Strangely it works pretty darned well on the new, lighter suntan too.

It's the one (or a copy of the one) Gubernator showed as Natalie Portman/Keira in his multi picture post. (and it's Portman if you ask me)

EDIT: Sorry, the one Guber posted is KT008 by Kimi, which is almost the same as KT005 aside from a mole on the cheek, and matches the same bodies.

It is Portman, and the mole on the cheek proves it; but when I bought it from eBay it was advertised as Keira Knightley. Since I am a big fan of the latter but not of the former, I am rather resentful about it. There is now a different, specifically Knightley head, although they made her eyebrows a little bit cartoonish.

i can confirm the kimi heads work well, as do verycool, and damtoys heads. i dont know about gactoys, but stay away from FGC. as for the head pictured its one of the best i have seen and is one that i will never part with. infact, she is probably the best i own. i will say it is odd that the tones dont match, but i just ignore it.
