1/6 scale in the oddest places.

Found a cool 1/6 item in a not so traditional 1/6 scale place that you used for bashing?

Examples.

Hasbro's Alien 3 Resurrection Call 6" Figure. This is one ugly action figure that just happens to come with a very cool 1/6 scale Face hugger and a new born alien that is perfect for AVP dios. Also if you buy the HT Alien snap kits each comes with a very nice 1/6 scale Alien egg. Another one that I can think of was the Harley Ken which came with a very cool biker jacket.

Can anyone think of any more? I know there has to be dozens of these out there.

Well I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but it turns out that McFarlane will release 12 inch versions of the military line. These will be exactly like the 6 inch version just scaled up. The weapons will probably be the only thing that we could use.

Also Bandai models and other anime figures from Japan have been know to have 1/6th scale like weapons. For instance the collectors edition of the Appleseed movie comes with a figure and sniper rifle that is perfect scale for our figures.

Uh, I don't understand your examples. What's not "cool" about where these 1/6 items were found? I thought you were gonna say you found a cool 1/6 item at a porn shop or something.

Eric
Umm wel you tell me what is cool about this action figure besides the scale hugger and chest burster? http://i21.ebayimg.com/04/i/07/ae/3b/04_1.JPG

And when is ken ever cool?

This thread is more for people who found a cool scale item and wanted to share it with others. There is always someone looking for a scale laptop or item that has no clue one can be had along side some crappy dolly some where.

and there is that 1/6 Jenna dolli saw at this porn shop once......;)

I'm with MisterToy. The title is what's misleading.

I'm hardly amazed to find something in 1/6 packaged in with a 1/6 toy. My expectations are rarely shot down that way. :rolleyes
Regardless of how you want to be the judge of what "cool" is, Ken does have quite a few serviceable items. And the odd 1/6-ish item found in other scales isn't so rare. Alot of the goofy odd-scaled toys have compatible 1/6 accessories. This whole Sigma6 thing happens to have alot of stuff that people have used in 1/6.

I think PSCMatt had the same interpretation of the thread that we did.

Yea that was suppose to be the point of ths thread. Just like the idea of people sharing the little things that make this hoby so much fun.

.... wow, a chipper thread if there ever was one. These following examples were what I thought of from your initial pre-editted post, but thought they were rather weak so I didn't post them at the time. And then... well, water under the bridge and down the creek :)

First... I haven't bought one or know of anyone who's done this, but the McFarlane military series' Helo pilot comes with a rather large clipboard [with city maps and such molded on it] for it's scale, but it looks like it could compliment a 1/6 figure nicely.
DML made some for a few of their fighter pilots but they were a different type of clipboard.

Also, everytime I go near the outdoorsy section of a store like Walmart, I always admire those miniature tent models they have on display. I think a notable member had one of these also and related it was a good find.

And while not perfect for 1/6, the smallest zipties/cable ties I can find at the hardware store [2mm I think] are suitable for odds and ends on my modern OIF figures.

And now with the topic finally sourced, maybe we can get a lot of new ideas from our fellow OSWers. :D Oh, and nice one with the sigma six stuff, for those who wondered but never took the leap.

When I returned from HALO school a few years ago, my Kids had bought a "Flava" doll and had him hanging from the dining room chandelier in a "good stable, belly-down" freefall posture. We all had a good laugh and then he was banished to a box that is now in the basement. While most of his clothes and accompanying "stuff" was unusable, he did come with a very nice sushi set. Now, I haven't done a Japanese dio, but if I ever do, that will come in handy.

Hmmm ... reading the question in bold font at the top, which I took to be the real spririt of the thread ... things I've seen that fall into the "items that are uber cool in a 1/6th setting, but were found in places you wouldn't actually look for them or expect to find them, such as non-1/6th scale toys or non toy merchandisers ..."

- the weapons that came with the mega huge Gundam imports ... major BFGs if you're able to somehow get them parted;
- wepaons that came with some of the 7" tall Evangelion figures ... good futuristic sci fi stuff.

Let's play nice guys - I dunno if it's hotter than the hubs of hell where you guys are at, like it is here, but other than that I don't see anything here worth getting in a twist over.

Howzabout more input on onesix-useable items from odd places, as that appears to be xavier's intent? I'm a bit disappointed myself, that all those items for shadow boxes I used to see, seem to have disappeared, now that I figured out what they'd work with....

seems like this thread has been given more then a few names, buts it cool to read other ppls ideas and found scale items, for my money i always wanted to get my hands on some of those cool tent samples that you see at department stores all the time.

kind of funny story when i was a kid i carved this cool 1/6 badge out of my dads buck knife handle and sewed it to my mego-spider-man's chest because i thought i my 7 year old kid mind that spider-man should have a badge!! its still on his chest to this day more then 2 decades later!! i guess i have always been looking for scale stuff since that day.

I do have plenty of stories of buying 1/6 Hasbro items and finding cool 1/4 scale stuff, does that count? :lol

I know in the past there have been alot of the 6 inch figures from Big Lots or Dollar General that come with some cool 1/6 scale guns. The figures were unarticulated + awful & had no redeming qualities alone, but the weapons were cool. I remember them having some cool uzis. I've seen the 6 inch ninjas that come with some rather large swords, throwing stars and other types of bladed weapons.

I find myself always looking through those types of figures when I'm at those stores. It helps that they are super cheap.

What was the question? :erm

Out here, in America's outback/bush/wilderness, there's a lot of little museums, craft, and western stores.

I always do a double take, whenever I pass by some stores display window, and see a covered wagon or other western display.

So far, I haven't seen anything that would pass as 1/6th, but there sure have been items than gave me pause.

For example, there's currently a large wooden wagon sitting in a window downtown.

It seems to be a bit too large to be considered 1/6th, but I'm tempted to take a horse and/or figure down there to see just how close the scale is to 1/6th.

...and, even if it isn't, maybe I can find out who built the thing and have them build me a 1/6th wagon.

Ah, ok, it's starting to flesh out. The Marx wagon is undersized, anyway, so what you're looking at is probably actually a true scaled freight wagon or close to it. I'll have to find a copy of DWW to refresh my rememorizer on what Timmons had. Maybe a Charles Ingall's type wagon like from Little House on the Prairie?

Anything Conestoga sized would be obnoxiously large...but probably a ton-o-fun.
