20012 not very far off. But.... why need steel melee? For CQB? What wrong with the M4? Why go back to wood and steel rifle? Do the book answer all that? Thanks.
I thought about it once more, and the most logical explanation for me would be that most current weapons have become inaccessible in one way or another, the remaining military bases are under siege so they probably still got their Weapons but have ran out of ammo over the time or maybe just a little bit left, the factories that produced the weapons and standard NATO Ammo are overrun. And a good portion of weapons is laying empty and forgotten at the former Battlegrounds (Yonkers for example) and since the rest of the military and goverment are holed up in the Rocky Mountains they need a quick and easy solution to arm their remaining troops again for a counter offensive. The 5.56 is accurate yes, but a direct hit into the brain is still quite difficult if your under stress (and a undead army of millions is quite scary and might cause stress ;) ) so while they thought up a new and reliable weapon they invented the Cherry Pie at the same time to make Brain Destruction easier (the CP is a incendiary round, pretty much burning the whole inside of the head)

I got my two new Hot Toys True Type Bodies today btw :D

I spent about an hour tonight working on getting something that could pass as the SIR together...right now it's cobbled together from the receiver and sights of an HT MP5 coupled with the barrel, stock, and clip of a 21C Thompson...right now, I think it looks pretty good. I would take pics but I can't locate my camera and I don't feel like looking for it now. Pics tomorrow hopefully.

looking forward to seeing that.

I'm going to be in the woods, camping, for the next three days. I'm taking WWZ with me, and my note book. I just read it, but I need a re-fresher. I would really like to do a bash of a soldier in the final days of the Zombie War.

Character profile :

Francois Caine - Ex US Marines, who served 2 tour of duty in Iraq and retired from service to join the private security sector and went back to Iraq again for 3 times before retiring altogether from work.

With the pension from the Marines and the money from his Private Security Stint, built a house in the hills at the countryside, living a peaceful life all by himself, living on what he grow and hunt.

First heard of the infection over the radio and satelite TV, which was relatively not affecting him as initially the infection was spreading in the cities. Then came the Great Panic, when the whole world went to war, requesting for any uninfected survivors to stay in refuge and for able bodied males to join the armed resistance, that was the last of any radio transmission he had. Deciding to use his past expertise to help those who may need his help, he decided to pack up his bag and leave the mountains to help any survivors to get to safe camps and to joined up with the armed resistance.

Gears : Due to his time with the Marines and the Private Security Sector, he still have his uniform/gears from Marines and weaponery which he is most used to during his PMC days as a counter insurgency sniper. As he heard over the radio about how the infections spread through the bites and blood splatters of the infected, he decided to be cover his face and eyes totally all the time.

Weapons: M40 Sniper rifle ( Marines influenced ), HK G3 Sniper rifle ( PMC influenced ) and a Spas 12-gauge out fitted with a smurai sword for quick slashing ( Zombie movies influenced )

I love anything Zombie related. I have a copy of the Zombie Survival Guide, however I found the "information" to be disappointing. According to the author, the best mode of transportation in a post-zombiepocaliptic world is a bicycle and the best weapon is a crowbar.

I have one completed Z'ed and a couple of well-armed survivors to add to the project.

I bought the book last week. I wanted to read it before doing my bash - Now I'm bummed. I'm bummed the book is over (seriously one of the best reads I've had in years), and I'm bummed because I can't pick just one thing to bash.

The old blind gardener?

A Zulu or Maori taking on a bunch of Zombies

British Royal Guardsman swinging a broadsword

Frenchman in chain male in the tunnels and sewers of Paris

A US soldier once we went on the offensive against the Zombies (an easy kit to make with some bad ass weapons)

Then there is the "dumb ass" on the roller blades with the meat cleaver strapped to his hockey stick.

I've been talking this book up to everyone I meet. Palaboon - Thanks for turning me onto such a good read.
I'm not a huge zombie fan but this book is extremely well written! Touching on areas never considered in movies or most other zombie works.

In addition to KneeJoints ideas:
Nun defending a school with only a large brass candlestick, her name escapes me.
Russian with WWII weapons and thread bare tunic of his grandfathers.
Exo Diving suit

If I wasn't backlogged with other customs and projects I would take a crack at the Nun.
How many hand to hand combat nuns do you usually see?
