their site states "when the item ships" but then goes on to say that if an item is scarce or limited, then pre-payment may be required to hold item. so what's considered scarce lol. what's their usual habit?

This question has been asked before and as Chung mentioned, our runs on figures are much much lower and once they are sold and out, there are no reruns or rehashes. The preorder policy is listed both in our Shipping and Returns policy as well as the Frequently Asked Questions section: http://triadestore.com/page_faqs.php

The bottom line is that if we see something starting to sell out really quickly, we charge the first orders to ensure the guarantee. We ran into this problem with Cole DX. And because of it, we had to do another subsequent run (Cole DX2) which we do not like to do for the DX series. It really defeats the purpose of having limited runs. We don't do "wait lists" because all a wait list is, is to buy some time while they make more to fill your order. Totally defeats the purpose of a "collectible" figure.

What happened with the Cole figure was it sold out within the first 4-5 hours. We obviously didn't expect it to sell that fast so we didn't check the stock status until a day or two later. Cole was made at a 100 quantity run. By the time we checked the sales, I remember it was at 140 or 150 sold. What made the situation worse was that the guys that initially bought Cole in that first 4 hours paid via the regular credit card method and the guys that bought him 2-3 days later paid via Paypal.

Because Paypal payments are immediate, those orders are processed first since we know the funds are prepaid and we just need to ship. Some of the initial guys that ordered Cole in the first few hours had their credit cards declined, mismatched, etc. and by the time all the orders were processed, a lot of people missed out on their preorders even when they were the first to order. Of course we did another run on Cole to cover this, but this is probably the only time we have and will ever do something like that.

Preorders are only charged at the time of shipping unless they start selling out. We don't want to run into another scenario like Cole again so just charging the card and ensuring the order is the best way to go. Besides, the wait on both Colin and Theodore is very short since we have already begun finalizing production so you guys might see them ship a little earlier than the ship date.
