What is the sideshow penalty charge if you dont destroy replaced 1:6 body?

2815 Views 13 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  lin_thizzy
I recently received a replacement body for a 1:6 scale hot toys figure that was distributed by sideshow. The original had to be replaced due to a slight mistake that couldnt be resolved with a replacement part. I was told to destroy the original body and to send pictures within 6 days of recieving a suitable replacement or there will be a charge. Does anyone know about this? And if so, How much would it come out to?

Weird, guess it stops scammers, guess they must have had a problem. You could always hacksaw the torso in half, take the pics showing it that way and of the initial fault; then just glue it back together with supports, or just "destroy" it in a way that can be used as a custom i.e. dead body, centaur, cyborg, zombie etc.. as for penalties no idea.

How are they going to charge you? Do they have your CC information? If not, then you probably don't have anything to worry about.

Good point, I think it's an empty threat, more of a deterrent to scammers.

Yeah. That have my info. Got it through their payment plan. It is such a minor flaw. The mms deadpool had some issues with a backwards right holster. I just so happened to be one of the lucky ones.
If you're going to do it, at least make a fun photo spread of it. Deadpool is the perfect character, too. Healing factor etc.

Wonder how much damage the truck would actually do. I'd like get an M80 and strap it to him or something.
Id take it to the shooting range tie it to an exploding target and press record. They may post it lol
Sounds strange that they would demand it be destroyed... why not ask for it back? I've never heard of a company demanding that something be destroyed if they send a replacement. What a waste.
Why didn't they just send you the correct holster? This all seems bonkers and a complete waste of a brilliant figure!:doh :loony

Bit of a weird one as it looks like the holster *should* be easily replaceable by swapping out the drop leg panel without necessitating a whole body, but hot toys does like to do weird things and glue/stitch things together. A destroy in field policy is quite common in many industries for rma replacements. As to how they would handle it, typically a vendor/distributor would have your payment info on file and charge you for the replacement item if the original item wasn't destroyed. A bit excessive but it reduces fraudulent claims I suppose.

It is more common for hobby shops/stores....the one I worked at had a Sideshow statue figure broken in shipment....Sideshow said to destroy it and take pics, and they'd send a replacement, since they couldn't really fix the statue anyway.....

So, the "penalty" was that if you didn't destroy the statue, you wouldn't get a replacement, so the store would be out the cost of the statue....which, at the time, was $300.00 +.....

The holster is a piece that would require precision to be done right and not damage the figure
