As I've mentioned before ( ad nauseum ?) I have seemingly endless collection of old Star Wars characters left over from back in the day. I mainly use them for characters who don't need a lot of poseability, one of them is this guy:

I wanted a Tie Fighter pilot pretty bad when I was younger but it's time he got upgraded so the head is set aside for detailing. The chest pack has been retasked to my fantasy astronaut and he'll be getting a much improved unit.
That leaves the body and ....those gloves.
Since one of my WIP is a garage scene featuring a welder, I decided to try my hand at making these into something usable. Here is what I wound up with:

Not as good as Mens Hommes but they will do until I can afford a better pair.
Here is welder guy hard at work:

His head is off being fitted for a welding mask but he has an awesome work ethic.
He's also mentioned he is going to need shielding gas and much heavier wiring, work clamp and welding gun.
In the scene he is welding straight on so he will be looking at his work piece instead of out into space.
