Haha, so true. This pic makes me sad that no modern company has seen fit to do Japanese chanbara/samurai film figures. There are so many classics like Lone Wolf & Cub, Yojimbo, Zatoichi, and Hanzo the Razor (*cough* you might like this one, DFC). Hell, just insert sculpts of Sonny Chiba, Wakayama (Lone Wolf), and Toshiro Mifune into other generic samurai releases and kitbashers can do the rest!

Someone did do Lone Wolf and Cub - can't remember who it was now, and the price was a lot at the time. I bought the Cub figure, which had real rooted hair. Dragon in Dreams did Toshiro Mifune exactly as you suggest, as a Japanese naval officer. There are other sculpts of him floating around on Ebay as well. I bet there are lots of Japanese/Chinese figures that are never released outside of Asia.
