about a year ago I started to run the German online action figure magazine ACTION FIGURE DISTRICT. At the moment I’m doing a survey about the best 1/6 scale products of 2013. It would be great if you join and answer the following questions. Just name your top 3 in four categories.

Though I and many others can appreciate a yearly "BEST OF" with regards to the 1:6 hobby, perhaps we should also consider a "WORST OF" as well?

If you're going to solicit praise with regards to the 1:6 hobby, then you might as well also get criticism & disdain as well to inform fellow collectors and the 1:6 companies (if they're even bothering to check) regarding what we didn't care for in 2013 and maybe they'll consider or actually improve for 2014?

I'm just saying.

(All Very Hot Toys sets have come a long long way over the past year, even if most of their stuff are clones, they are cheap and reasonable prices, and they have done some items that no one else has produced!

I can't fairly vote because I have bought far less figures in 2013 than previous years due to the prices going up. But here are my top three companies:

2. Soldier Story
3. Playhouse

I bought both DAM MARSOC figures and have to say they are the best I have seen... but I do have the Soldier Story woodland MARPAT Marine on the way, so we shall see.

P.S. I have to agree that the DAM "Tears of the Sun" is the best line... I have bought all four so far!

Well, according to my wife I bought a ton of stuff this year, to the tune of $2600. Although i only bought 3 boxed figures...the rest parts...

So here are my picks and reasons for them...

Best 1:6 company
1. DID
2. Hot Toys
3. DAM
4. OE (Original Effect)
5. Flirty Girl Collectables (FGC)
6. Dragon - for there Tanks and vehicle line

DID was simply the best this year, because they put out some fantastic stuff at reasonable prices, WWI, WWII, Gangsters, MI6 agent etc etc, the list of high quality figures this year goes on and on.

1. Hot Toys Avengers
2. DAM Spade series
3. OE-original Effect
4. ACI Gladiators

Hard for me as I don't do lines of figures unless you say WWII Canadians are a line?:nanana OE surprised me this year with so many different figures in a short amount of time with a unique style all their own.

3. DID MI6 Agent
4. DAM Spade series-any one of them
5. Phicen - Nina

Again a very hard choice as I only bought 3 boxed sets. DID Churchill, DID MI6 Agent, VTS Zombie Killer. I chose DID figures simply becasue of : cost, quality and variation.

2. Magic Cube-female clothing sets
3. SMcG Custom sets

I bought a handful of these types of sets this year and was surprised at the high level of quality, fit and variation offered by these newer groups. Although SMcg is not really a company making sets, Chad's influence with Phicen and FGC shows he knows what the public wants.

2013 was an interesting year with many newer companies showing up, offering one or two items and then disappearing. My personal though is that they were all associated with one or more of the main players and were testing the waters so to speak to see what sales (of that particular product or style) would be.

2013 was a good year for 1/6 in general. We had more choices, more variety in items (WWI, WWII, Korea, Gangsters, Gladiators etc etc) then ever before and if you stayed away from Hot Toys, MOST were reasonable to buy.

Disappointments for me this year were:
BODIES!
The complete lack of interchangeability of body parts for most main stream bodies.
DAM Bodies - all the ones I bought loose had very loose joints.
DID's new all Era body uses a proprietary neck ball size (which is smaller then most) so most other neck joint adapters will not work with it.
Soldier Story uses a ball post size that won't fit Hot Toys or knock off heads,
HT and other heads sitting too low or too high on bodies etc
Feet pegs
Hand pegs
Skin color for most female heads and bodies..:doh :bag you need a score card to figure that out...

With all of that you pretty much need a chart to figure out what fits what. (OSW tried and is trying to do that, see sticky thread)

Now most of this you can fix with a little work, but won't it be nice if all the manufactures played nice and got together and made it all work together...opcorn

Anyway, it was a great year...I can't wait to see what 2014 has for us...

To me it all boils down to Soldier Story, they've been knocking out of the park with each release, their quality is way high (with a few hiccups, as every other company does) and their production speed has improved as of lately, so they're the best of the best of 2013 to me

Interesting choices/selections, I concur with the majority of them . . . especially the
best 1:6 accessories/clothing sets (for female figures).

It's difficult for me to pinpoint my selections based on the above criteria guidelines.

Below are my choices not based on any guidelines, but from an overall perspective based on my preferences.

• DID MI6 Agent Jack
• DAM US Navy SEAL Team figures inspired by the film TEARS OF THE SUN
• FLIRTY GIRL COLLECTIBLES head/outfit sets
• PHICEN Nina 1.0
• VERY HOT TOYS for improved design & quality compared to 2012 and prior years, but they still have a ways to go and still keeping their offerings under $90.00 for the most part
• HT TTM CLONE BODIES . . . specifically the V4.0 of the TTM 21 clone and the recently released TTM 19 clone/hybrid from whatever the company's name is for providing cost conscious quality alternatives compared to the high priced real deals from HT

I personally feel the best overall 1:6 company for 2013 is DAM given what they've managed to produce & release in terms of variety. As some may have knocked on their quality, their quality IMHO is trending in the same manner in varying degrees compare to other companies and I expect & hope to see ongoing improvements in their offerings for 2014 (that was supposed to be released in 2013).

The biggest & most pleasant 1:6 acquisitions for me in 2013 is DID MI6 Agent Jack and some 1:6 female offerings from FGC & SMcG Customs given my collecting niche.

No need to post negatives, I vote with my funds. Some of the items are 2012-2013 period, given the becalmed nature of supply in that period. I also choose from the areas and lines I use, with other lines not considered because I don't use those regularly. The hardest part was narrowing down some of the choices. Lots of good 1:6 this year (and more still in stir).

Truly did not see it coming, but DiD really knocked it out of the park for me this year. Any one of Churchill, MI6 Agent (Bond) or Chicago Gangster (Depp) would have been exceptional by itself, but the Hat Trick of those three in a row, and at prices btwn 1/2 to 2/3 what HT figures cost, was truly impressive for me.
