I know elements of the British / Commonwealth forces used shemaghs/keffiyeas in N. Africa during WW2, but does anyone know if the DAK used them too? I was thinking of doing a DAK in a sandstorm, with his goggles on and a shemagh wrapped around his head. Would this be feasible?

I recall mostly what appeared to be light-colored long scarves, worn like the French N. African officers, around the neck. They could be used along with goggles, in sandstorms.
