Is there some SEALS who are better than others? What I mean is, if there is a really tough mission, how are the teams picked

They all receive the same training. DEVGRU (Former Seal Team 6) apparently gets the more high profile jobs and does alot of field testing of new equipment, so it's likely they get a more specialised training.

It depends on the mission requirements and the location of the mission. DEVGRU, formerly known as SEAL Team Six, like the Army's "Delta Force" is primarily tasked with counter-terrorism and national security and operates worldwide. As Paladin mentioned, they are tasked with equipment and weapons development and evaluation and have special training in hostage rescue, CQB, etc.

Other than DEVGRU, the other SEAL teams comprise one of two Special Warfare Groups. One groups is based on the east coast and the other on the west coast. These teams respond to missions depending on the location of the mission and are tasked to geographic CINCs (Combined Intelligence Center).

actually devgru is well the A-team, but each team is kinda broken down with like the best team of climbers gets more mountain misions, the best swimmers n so on. its along the lines of jp-hobbies post

They all receive the same training.

Also, DevGru consists of members from different SEAL teams.
They will undergo another training just to be included in the team.
Every DevGru members are hardened veterans of the field and no one can apply to join DevGru.
Instead, DevGru picks those selected individuals from different SEAL teams.
In short, DevGru members are veterans of different SEAL teams with age ranging from 32-36 atleast.

Tier 1 consists of DevGru and Delta.
