Anyone know if you can disassemble the Hot Toys DX10 Terminator 2 T800 1911?

I'm wondering if you could take off the slide, paint it chrome and put it back on - without damaging it? Anyone know or have any suggestions?

Is that a cross pin at the back that might be a slide stop? I love taking anything apart. If it was built, it can be torn down. You just have to find that "tab A locks into slot C-2 while engaged with cross support D-1" kind of zen. Might be why one of my favorite tasks is auto trans tear down and rebuild. Is that slide spring loaded? Something holds it back against spring tension pushing it forward, when in battery.

I don't have this particular pistol, but I have taken a couple of different HT pistols apart for painting. I recently took the HT M&P9 apart for painting. In that instance, I simply slid the slide forward and off the barrel. This piece may be different inside though, so that may not work. As others have said, you could simply mask off the frame and paint the slide, although if the slide is going to be the same colour as the frame (ie: chromed), there is less need to even mask it off. As for the pin at the rear of the frame, my guess is that is the pivot for the hammer rather than a slide stop.

Thanks for the replies guys...

You can take the Barney Ross' kimbers apart, not sure why these would be much different. HT is pretty good about moving parts/accuracy on this kind of stuff.
How does that one come apart?

Yeah, I thought that might be the case with this one too as the slide is not spring loaded (and is very stiff) but alas it doesnt seem to be.

The slide wont budge any more forward than what you see in that pic :/ It seems the rear of the slide is closed and the gap for the hammer is too small for the inside/upper frame to slide through.

Mask it and it will come out alright.
Why take a chance and break something?
Yeah, I might have to end up going this route :/ Anyone got any tips (best tape to use for masking? best/most realistic chrome paint to use? sealer? etc?)

I'd recommend using a liquid mask.

Here's a vid that goes into much more detail than you'll need, but includes recommendations for masking brands.
