With the imminent release of the DiD Vickers, I thought I would re-show my Red Horse Vickers with some better pics.
The original Red Horse model had the sights removed and rebuilt more accurately to the left of centre, the thermal sleeve made out of athletic tape and kite string added to the barrel, various taps and retaining chains added.
I wanted to be able to dismount the gun, which wasn't possible on the original Red Horse model, so I prized it out of the cradle, cut the trunions off and drilled through so it would accept a bar through it. You can see it on the photos of the tripod. I also did something similar with the elevating mechanism, which had to be partially rebuilt.
Ammo belt is made from athletic tape, and the ammo boxes from cardboard, sticky labels, paper-clips and soda can.
(And yes, I've just realised that my Tom's boots are on the wrong feet!)
