Question on the Hot Toys Marine saw gunner.
Is the marpat uniform exactly the same as the previous releases, or has it improved? I'm asking this because they upgraded their ACU pattern and I thought they'd do the same with the marpat.

USMC M249 SAW Gunner from Hot Toys? I got my yesterday, local pick for $95. Put it together the same day. Let me tell ya. Everything looks great on the HT ad. When you open your figures and put it together, thing not so great. I can tell the quality drop noticeably. Mainly the BDU. Well, let just say "MY" BDU quality was not so good. Maybe you will get lucky and get a better BDU. The saw bipod broke just by opening it. No way to repair it but to glue it open. So be very, very, very careful with the bipod. Did I said be "VERY CAREFUL"? Be very careful! Better yet, don't open it. Oh! Wow! Plastic ammo belt too! For a $90+ figure? WTF, HT! But, I do like the Knee Pads and the M1911A1 - NICE! Bottom line. This is the first and hopefully the only HT figure that I can not recommend to anyone. You better off buy lose parts to bash one. And you will have a better quality figure for less then $90+ bucks. I think the SAW Gunner as is should be in the same price range with TS or ACE, in the $60 > $70 the most. Not worth $90+, nooo way! If I can send my figure back to HT and get my money back, I will! And buy ACE, TS parts and bash one of less bucks.
THe BDUs are made of a ripstop material similar to earlier TS BDUs.
I would not be so negative about HT SAW Gunner. Good figure and has a lot of interesting items to justify $90. BDU is fine, it's ripstop fabric. Can't say I'm a big fan of it, but fabric is nice - much better then ripstop fabric that ACE used to have.
As for the Marpat color, it's the same as on their Limited Edition Sniper. It's a ripstop fabric. Looks like a darker shade of Marpat BDUs made by Saturday Toys - but that might be due to a different fabric used...

Pity it's wrong - the actual MCCUU are made from nylon/cotton twill. Hopefully we will see Hot Toys improve the pattern in the future, like they have done with their ACU camo! :thumbmx22 said:BDU is fine, it's ripstop fabric. So, is the ACU camo same as the TACP camo? Pattern looks the same to me. I'm not into Mountain Ops. So I didn't buy ACU, and can't compare. I do like the TACP very much. I got 49 HT in my collection now. And I have to say, the TACP is one of the very best HT Ops(till PMC and CIA come out). That one worth paid $95. The SAW BDU fabric feel just like early Dragon BDU card set, CHEAP. I just can not justify paying $90+ for a figure with cheap fabric. All my ACE and TS cost way less then HT, and with better fabric. I works very hard at the office for my $95 bucks. With that cheap BDU. the SAW Gunner do not have enough interesting items to justify paying that much.
The TACP figure is supposed to have ACU, but the camo pattern used didn't really look like it - fortunately HT have corrected their pattern and the camo on the Mountain Ops Sniper(and the coming CIA figure) looks very accurate.
It looks like they've changed the colour balance before printing it, and they've also figured out the pattern is more horizontal than their previous vertically inclined printing; so they've pretty much fixed--at least from what I can see-- both their ACU and MARPAT patterns.
I can see what Good Duck is getting at though, I've never been pleased with any boxed figure I've gotten, esp the 90-100$ ones. There were neat pieces, but it never felt as fulfilling. That being said though, this figure looks great for an 03 Marine, and if I had the cash I'd have gotten a squad of them.

Very bad. So bad, I changed mine out with bbi stuff.
Lol it's funny because even though the HT TACP fig doesn't have the best ACU pattern, he is one of my favorite HT figs.
