Hi, I was just wondering, are there any black chest rigs for like an M60 or an M249 in 1/6?

Thanks, Shaun

Off the top of my head, I don't believe so. I think all the automatic gunner rigs are in tactical colors.

Do you think it would be possible to maybe dye the one from the Brrack Sargeant PMC?
Usually the syntetic thread and the nylon webbing for PALS just don't take dye. You could give it a go, but I haven't ever had really satisfying results.
You could also try diluting black acrylic paint. I've done it with good results.
Cody any tips on diluting the paint?

P.S. Is there any way to change the colors of the buckles, or am I just going to have to find some new one and replace them?
I saw a bash by hqpham where he used a fabric paint product called "Simply Spray" to re-colour a chestrig - http://www.onesixthwarriors.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68329 Looks like it works pretty good!

As for the buckles - try undiluted black paint - but you know that already! ;)
LOL I feel stupid for asking the buckles question.....Anyways thanks a ton for the tip on that paint. Looks like it will work perfect for me!
i gave up on the Simply Spray stuff..color match overall was not great...I ended up painting with tamiya or other brand acrylics being brushed on to get the color to match. What I have been using lately for my OD CIRAS and pouch painting is Tamiya Color for plastics spray paint..color is great and it doesn't mess up the velcro patches. As for the buckles, the Tamiya spray covers them up pretty well so I don't bother repainting them. I plan on painting the PMC MG rig tan when I get mine..I'll post a pic..probably late next week.
Does it get stiff at all after you paint it with the Tamiya color paints? I suppose it wouldn't really matter all that much though seeing as how it's a chest rig...

P.S. Where are you getting your PMC chest rig from?
Well, there you have it straight from the "horses mouth"! :)

Monkey depot parted out the BS PMC(OSF version) - they still have the OD M60/SAW rig in stock. EDIT: Just noticed Krak-Troops has parted it out too.
Hey Shaun,

Hobby shops carry an acrylic thinner or you can use water I guess, I've heard you can use alcohol too. I haven't done it a lot, so you might want to go with the spray. My rig did get a bit stiff but it wasn't real noticeable.
The Ammo Pouches of BBI Cobra (the Ranger M249 Gunner) take color pretty good, i painted one black using a edding pen (black marker pen)

with Tamiya spray, it gets alittle stiff but I just painted the ACE Contractor plate carrier OD and it's material was really soft so the stiffness made it better and not so flexible. So it's a negligible if not positive effect from the paint. I got the rigs from Monkey Depot.
OK cool, I'll have to try to get some of those paints. I take it you can pick them up at Hobby shops and such?

yea, i pick some of mine up from hobbytown but they run out of the colors I like such as Buff, USAF Tan, Flat Earth, and OD sometimes so I order online..I think Monkey Depot might have Tamiya paints..not sure about spray though. Good luck and can't wait to see what you do!
Thanks, I'll have to look around to see if I can find some. Hopefully, if all goes well, it will be put to use on my first ACU bash- An M249 gunner. The only thing I haven't found yet for him is a set of TS ACU's, and BBi Joe Brannan's helmet.
On the Tamiya spray paint I should go with just flat black right?

Thanks, Shaun
yea, that will work...sorry for not getting back to you sooner..in the process of spraying a TS Diamondback Tactical Fast Attack Plate Carrier with my "Matt Black" from Tamiya..gonna post pics for ya here when it dries..so far the material is not stiff except for the side strap but that's not a big deal to me..
Cool man, thanks! Can't wait to see how it turns out! I'll hopefully get some paint over the weekend. I went and looked in my garage, but we only managed to have silver and blue. But I know the place we got it, so hopefully they still have some. If the chest rig goes good I may also spray a backpack for the M249 gunner.
