As a newbie what's the first thing you guys all do when you recieve a new figure ?

Onesixthpolice's answer is sadly accurate.

That said, I try to correct as much as I can... If anything is "optional" or otherwise customizable, I jump on it. I'll try to identify anything that doesn't meet my standards for historical authenticity and correct it. I replace cartoony looking heads with more realistic ones. I also often correct the paint apps on faces by increasing the shadows and highlights on the face.

Then I try to add character to the figure. Maybe I'll deliberately introduce a change that was not "regulation" at the time but is nonetheless plausible. What would a person of that era do to customize their weapon, clothing, etc? I'll also repaint the clothing to add some wear-and-tear (patches, holes, etc).

I try not to break it, pull all the buttons off it and then box it all up and blame the retailer...

JOKE!!! (Sorry I couldn't resist) he he.

Seriously though, glad you got your issue sorted and it hasn't put you off collecting. We're all a friendly bunch here, you're in good hands ;)

Aha you guys are awesome !

Wow Delta you have such a massive collection. My game plan is to collect gradually. I like the sound of kit bashing collecting over time different parts for my figure.

Aha thank you. I must admit i was gutted when I had to send my first figure back. I must admit I treated it like a baby wrapped up in cotton wool.

I'm just fascinated with how you guys get such realistic figures. I must improve my sowing skills.

Delta do you have the WF Captain Stalingrad Thomas figure ?

A quick question I can't really figure why some of these figures are so hard to get hold of. I was lucky that a forum user pointed me to pippin toys on my hunt to get a WW1 Albert Brown. Yet some figures are quite readily available. Is it just pure supply and demand.

The Albert Brown figure is a few years old now. These figures are made in relatively small production runs compared to other products so once they're gone they're gone. And once they've pretty much sold out its quite normal for the prices of those left to get gradually higher over time until they're all gone.
