Here is a little telescope made from a piece of bamboo and a worn out Dremel mandrel.

Very nice! Upsize it just a bit, and it would make a nice addition to a Brit WW1-WW2 sniper team (and maybe a bit beyond).

No, I meant the basic components worked so well, that some substitute pieces would work to assemble a larger scope. It seems like pirate and naval illustrations and film offer various sizes, much like with binos.

Agreed. I'd like to make a bigger one. If I can find a 4-5 mm bullet-head nail, it would be perfect.

Instead of painting it, I wanna try out this simple brass plating method.

Very nice, unique work.

This kind of stuff is why I love this forum.

That's a really nice piece of work - well done!

It's close, Mike, but the British one had a metal body. I made this using an empty roller-ball pen refill ((and before I learned how to repaint rifles!):
I'll have to dig around in my books, David. I seem to recall the scopes I saw as being large-barreled, covered in thin leather (?), with brass fittings. Likely pre-WW2 issue, your scope appearing more like WW2 technology. Nice work on your scope, and if there are two models, what better than making both?
