Somewhere I saw a couple of SOGs carrying stens with a bandolier. The bandolier could apparently take both Thompson and Sten mags.

 

I think OPSGEAR sells the loose Sten gun magazine bandoliers.

The TUS Mike Force figure has a chest rig that holds similar type mags.

 

try the ammo bags that came with Dragons WW2 AB troops or the same one that came with DML Jake Nam marine . Same bag but different colors. They hold the Thompson mags and the Swedish K mags and a sten mag should fit fine. I made a Nam SOG before I left carrying a silenced Sten as talked about in SOG by Plaster. I never got the chance to weather him or finish it all but it looks pretty good. I used the same ammo bag from Jake for mags. Dont forget to post pics of your results here.:thumb

 

Guys a lot of the Mag pouches used for the Sten in Nam where local made in country, I have seen them with sewed slots for mags and just pouch style with them just piled in on top of each other, The most often seen colors where Tan or OD, hope this helps.................Don

 

The chest rig that Armory offered with one of the RPG sets would make a nice start for a custom unit. Clip open the flaps and stuff the mags in.

A nice chest rig can be found in the Armory RPG set. The chest rig could be the base for an easy custom. Just cut open the pockets stuff with mags. You could add the toggles with tooth picks or other small wood for a really detailed rig. Just a thought.

I'd say go with the sten bandolier or a chest rig of some type. As stated before, the Armoury chest rig would be the best bet, but good luck finding one.

Why not try some Thompson mag pouches, 3 cell 30 rounders. Or those all purpuse bags (like Dave, or the green one jake had) Maybe, just an idea though. I think Sten gun mag may be larger than tommy mags..

 

Rome, check out a book called Blackjack 33, and Blackjack-34, and Mobile Gurrila force. Their Cambodian point man carried a silenced sten. Thats right up your alley Rome.

 

Rome, Check out these 2 books for further reference on the use of the Sten by MAC V in nam. They mostly used the Silenced version if I remember correctly

Wow and very tempting to go the 'Nam, when I'm exhausted with doing French Indochina & Korean War bashes, maybe, but most of my loose parts is WW2 & Modern so I'll have to start building up 'Nam parts (e.g. uniforms, webbing) comes the time...especially cuz I have a lot of Stens and Thompsons & related accessories to them as well ha!
