Hi Everyone!

Generally I'm a humble person, but I have to say, I think I did pretty well with this one. I felt a lot of pressure because this diorama showcases the furniture set and numerous other props I picked up from Annie Morrison. For those of you who don't know, Annie is one of the best crafters of 1/6th scale mid century furniture and items. I know, I know, it's super-specific niche, but for those of us in this niche, Annie is at the pinnacle of the hobby. I really felt a lot of pressure over these past months to come up with something worthy of her art. And here it is! It's a simple and clean design, hopefully befitting to showcase Annie's amazing items.

Also, this is pure Phicen. No Fashion Royalty this time.

I've listed some of the best pics below. The full photo-shoot has 53 pics and can be seen here:

You are cordially invited to view the full photo set at my blog.

Thanks so much for looking! I hope you enjoy AM Dreams!

Best wishes,

Don

Stop taking pictures out of 1960's Architectural Digest and trying to pass them off as your dioramas! :wink Seriously, great job.

Great once, purely from the standpoint of making great style and design choices that look terrific, sensitive to period, yet not forced.

Great twice in the execution, because that's some great 1/6 bashing and manufacturing by you and by the other artists whose work you are incorporating.

LOL! That was funny and very nice at the same time! Thanks Moonbase a-M! I think you're spot on about not looking forced, and in large measure, that is due to Annie's furniture and props. Her stuff is so authentic. For example, you should see the little tables in person. She uses a variety of different woods, does real live inlays (I don't know how), she even wax polished a couple of them! Yeah, it really amazes me how talented people are out there making these miniature items. Thanks so much for looking and commenting! -Don

Amazing work! I really enjoyed looked at the the attention to detail you created. How did you do the backdrop area in the garden with the plants?

This epitomises what the creative side of this hobby is all about. You envisioned something and made it.

Thanks for the kind comments delusional and Odysseus!!

How did you do the backdrop area in the garden with the plants?
Believe it or not, its a 2 ft x 4 ft photo print mounted on foam board! I have it suspended by string off a mic stand so I can re-position it as needed. I plan to hang it on the wall as a decoration after I'm done using it for diorama purposes.

It was totally experimental to try this. Normally I like to have real window views. But this window wall presented the problem that you can see everything outside the dio, so I tried this instead.

What do you think? Did it come out fairly realistic? Normally I don't like to use "photo windows".

Thanks for asking, Odysseus!

Don

All (!) is absolutely realistic. 1/6 modelling at the top.

BTW the figure is not pure Phicen. The head should be Kimi Toys... :)

Everything in this is exceptional. Clothing, furniture, setting also the window photo looked great. The scale looked exact. I made a couple wood tables and benches but nothing this good. Want to make a few things a little more elaborate. Maybe a couch. I don't think I can make something this nice. I am very impressed with the upholstery. Very detailed and perfectly made. The fabric and color fits the period too.
