Not sure if this will get locked or not. Just noticed a sticky stating mature section is now closed. That's a shame but I can't say it was unexpected. What started out as risque pictures turned into pornography. It was clearly labeled "R" rated but I guess that wasn't good enough for some. I enjoyed the pin up quality erotic photos many of you took. Not so much the gaping female genitalia that others needed to post. Hell there was even a thread on peeing. What a damn shame.

I understand NSFW and that's OK, but when some of the stuff got to where I had to look over my shoulder AT HOME to view content, it was probably time.

Damnedest thing about about giving an inch...

It's a bit of a loss to see the mature section shut down. Most of the posts were kept in the area of rated R. Many posts were humorous even informative, some artistic. I have posted in the mature section and would keep content in the realm of the "R" There were definitely posts that went way too far into the realm of "X" which shouldn't have been posted. People posting things that extreme should have known better. (The section is clearly stated R not X) I didn't like seeing the - I suppose occasional - 1/6th scale porn mixed in with just risque humor or nude figures. It's a shame that all is lost over a few going too far. There is going to be gray area from what would be considered R and what would be over the top, but some of the posts were obviously way too far. Over the years of the section existing, I don't understand why the posts that were too extreme, weren't deleted.

I think the above statements cover the problem with the section. Google AdSense issued a warning about content, and Jim Dolan requested that we take the offending post/thread down. When I entered the "Mature/NSFW" area, the thread was definitely not R-rated. It was nearly a year old, because staff preferred not to "patrol" that area. A number of other threads were also in violation. The decision was made to deactivate the area, which is above our pay grade, but something staff felt was overdue. As with other situations on the General Discussion pages, members are trusted to conduct themselves properly, but that has not always been the case, and eventually action is necessitated.

I don't recall any "porno" posts but yes there were a few that bordered on tasteless.
But as stated above the web overseers could have removed any truly objectionable
posts at any time. Most people just wanted to discuss the latest figures available and
ways to improve them. I personally would rather see "pin up" poses over bloody warriors
anytime.
Sadly the "fun" police have taken over. I know their battle cry "it's to save the children".
I don't know what fairy tale land they live in but children of today are exposed to a lot
more graphic items on the internet or cable than anything ever posted here!
If there are any enlightened web sites out there please let me know.
I have enjoyed my time at osw but the only reason I joined was for the "Mature Section".
regards

The world regarding any kind of pop culture is G-Rated enough already (these figures aren't for kids is absolutely correct+++++++++). Put the R-rated stuff back up!!!! We ALL need it. And if this customizing site won't let us show off what our figures can obviously show, which one(s) will!? And let's all sign up for something better.

How many gaping vaginas have you seen in R rated movies? Don't even try to blame the site for some members poor choices. I know I mention something in a thread before about the pics being too "adult" and was called a prude. We got what we deserved.

I haven't seen any porno in mature section, I did show a mod I did on s09c and s23b purely for technicality,
however it is understandable, and there is better place for that, and this place is obviously not.

however I think it has to do more about the BDSM threads some company advertised there.

I can be regretful about the free expression loss but I can't be too condemning or judgmental. The amount of policing or monitoring that might have been necessary to keep the line in a particular place within the NSFW standard would have been too much effort to justify -- especially since the mods or whoever was doing the monitoring might reasonably have been uncomfortable with some of the content, of which there would have been too much to go through.

It had become pretty much a separate community from "OSW main" anyway and I don't actually recall the last time I even went into NSFW. Sure it was useful for those rare cases where someone could cross post "here is the new Type-1 body in a bikini and there are a few nipple-showing pics in the NSFW" but overwhelmingly it had become a totally separate community anyway. Guess we'll all have to stay in the "Immature" section now.

Relevant information here

With the site using google ads to monetize it makes sense to pull the section given how restrictive the google policies are. Appealing anything at google once something gets yanked is extremely difficult if not impossible when it comes to adsense violations. Even in the general forum section content shows up every now and then that could get the site flagged. Free expression tends to go out the window once you drag advertisers into the equation.

Jesus. Just like everything else in life, a few people just HAVE to .... things up for everyone else in the category. It is not hard to follow rules. This type of thing happened when I was in the army, and unfortunately, I see this as a problem here, too. As we would say in the army, thanks a lot blue falcons.

Ironic since we all know the biggest money making machine on the net isn't 1/6 scale figures, it's p***!!!!!! With that said, I never once viewed the adult content part of OSW, so I have no idea as to what the rules were or who broke them. And even though I understand the "What would or wouldn't you want a child to see" part it's still sad that we have to deal with G rated rules in an XXX rated world. Especially when you consider that many of us bash figures based on the realities of life (fiction/fantasy or non-fiction).

What it boils down to is the companies paying google for ads are ultimately the ones who are concerned where their ads show up, especially in this day and age where 20 people throwing a fit on twitter is enough to cause a PR disaster for a multinational company. With internet marketing being what it is, an advertiser can quickly find their ads being shown on content which may not be in their interests. Google has been smacked around plenty by advertisers in the past, most recently with many large companies threatening to pull their ad money from youtube because of where their ads were ending up, hence google has policies which may seem very restrictive. I would keep that in mind rather than infighting with other posters to the mature section, as I would again note there is content that appears outside of that section that may seem innocuous to the general membership here but not so when viewed through the google lens. Google ultimately cares about the totality of content on a site rather than isolated sections of a site.

With all respect, I do not count a "gaping vagina" as being pornographic. Now if two figures
were posed in a erotic manner to some that might be considered pornographic.
But that is not the point. The point is that free expression is being curtailed tp
placate a few. Granted the trend towards bdsm in some recent posts may be disturbing
to some and not necessarily proper, but many such references are made in popular
mainstream media.
But what is gone is gone! I am still seeking an enlightened adult venue where I can exhibit my work,
observe the work of others and hold meaningful discussions. By the same token for all those
that applaud the demise of a form of expression remember :you reap what you sow"
best wishes and regards to all

I don't think anyone is applauding the demise of freedom of expression, but sadly, some things are beyond ones control when the venue belongs to someone else. If you're interested in adult themes in the 1/6th world, I recommend:

Lol. Funny (not in the laugh out loud manner) how this thread TRULY defines the difference between dolls, action figures and 1/6 scale collectable figures.

And Adam C, everything you expressed above is logical but again begs the question: Where do folks who want to share that kind of customized material online go? (I checked out Menwithdolls and I don't want to join it unless I can review it first).

The only reason I joined 1/6 was for the adult section. Well I guess I will have to find someplace else for 1/6 female figures. I went ahead and joined MWDs just to see what they have to offer. I guess I will go ahead and remove 1/6 from my favorites. As of today I will close my membership to 1/6. And you have to look over your shoulder to make sure someone doesn’t see what you’re looking at I feel sorry for you. I also thing some of you need to grow up. like someone said, kids today are more mature than yall are. So yall can take your GI Joes and crole back in your closet and play with your ball jointed toys. End of rant.

I enjoyed that section as well, but to be honest, I've always wondered how long it could last the way it was set up: open to anyone- trolls included.

A few years ago MWD was almost shut down due to complaints raised to the forum provider. As a result, our adult section has strictly controlled access, with a membership process. Google Ads or other trolls won't find one's photos in the adult section (which is called After Dark).

If Google trolling hadn't presented a risk to OSW, another troll would have sooner or later- or even an offended forum member. It really doesn't take much. As I said, I enjoyed OSW's adult section, but it should never have been an open sandbox.
