Finally, the best counterterrorist unit in the world as ranked by Leroy Thompson... And not surprising it's the British SAS. Of course the most familiar image of the SAS was its CRW wing in Op. Nimrod, but Kaz in SpecFigures2 and British kitbasher SteveM http://www.onesixthwarriors.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62833&highlight=CRW have done such good bashes on it, I decided to bash the SAS in the Loughgall ambush instead...

The Loughgall ambush was said to be the most successful operation mounted by the SAS against the IRA in Northern Ireland. Those who are interested can read more about it here... http://www.eliteukforces.info/special-air-service/sas-operations/loughgall/ There r no pics showing what the SAS wore or carried on this operation, but weapons used include the H&K G3KA4, M16s, and GPMGs...

Balaclava has been resewn and H&K G3KA4 is customised. Hope u guys like it! :)

Mate Cpl Ho,

I hate to interfere, there is some inaccurates on you Brit SAS kitbash on N.Ireland conflict which took place in Loughgall ambush in the nineties. If you really want 100% accurately of your Brit SAS N.Ireland kitbash.

Your figure is carrying dreaded 1958 pattern webbing which was already customed and modified by the SAS before the Brit army issue of PCLE in 1990/91. Most of the SAS troopers had some US ALICE & M1956 pouches with some of '58 Pattern pouches, straps & modified harness which they removed the strap for the spade from the back of the harness.

I'm sure your figure will look great with the modified '58 pattern webbing mate. Also you can check out the Osprey's Men at Arms book of British SAS with illustration by late Angus McBride however this book is now very outdated. This book has photo of modified SAS '58 pattern webbing which will be great assistance for you.

Cheers mate

Thanx everyone... I'm sure the inaccuracies r real and I was two-minded abt what kit to load on the figure... I guess I was trying to give the figure a more 'squaddie' look, but I supposed the following beltkit would b more accurate...

But the Loughgall ambush happened in 1987, did it not?

Gorden Bennett! How stupid of me!?! :knock :knock

You're correct! it did happened in 1987. .

Regarding about the ammo pouches which the SAS used for N.Ireland, I believe that they probably most likely used ALICE ammo pouches instead of '58 pattern ammo pouches depending on their preferance
