great review! BEEN ON THE FENCE about getting perhaps the best character in the avengers' universe. Jack Kirby's best creation. i really don't collect these 'movie'/comic figures so this would be my first from that avengers movie hype-machine. i can perhaps pop on an AA head in there..that new Ace LRRP cobra head would be perfect! didn't see the movie but loved the character in the comics...thanks for the review.

I agree with both sides of the review namely (1) on the positive side, how appealing the figure is, and (2) on the value side that it is a disappointment for its price point. I've gotten used to HT pricing but for most HT figures quite a lot of the value goes into an unmasked human headsculpt (as seen by the evidence of the parts aftermarket). Some characters just don't have an unmasked headsculpt so OK, if it's Kylo Ren or a Stormtrooper or something, I get it, but I still think HT don't lower the price as much as they proportionately should.

Black Panther is even a worse case because there's really no reason not to include the unmasked headsculpt (unless there's some actor licensing quirk we don't know). Plus we know they're going to make another one for Infinity War, and that one will almost certainly have a headsculpt, plus it's unlikely that a solid black costume can really change that much. I'm not buying two BPs and it's an absolute certainty that I couldn't buy this one without regretting it when the next one comes out. On the other hand I'll feel good then if I hold out now.

Thanks guys - yea, considering what we're getting from other companies in the 200 - 220 range, we know it's not a cost of raw materials or even manufacturing that's driving the 220 for something like Black Panther. But I'm betting they held off on the unmasked head to drive sales of the next release, which you know is eventually coming.
