For the last few years, I've been using a product called Ambroid Pro Weld for 'welding' plastics together, as opposed to the relatively weak Testors cement (the liquid type in the bottle - I have little use for the old-fashioned type in the tube) Lately, I can't find it (Hobby Lobby is out and nobody in there seems to know what I'm talking about now and Hobby Town USA doesn't have access to it.) It might be out of production, as most of the online sellers list it as discontinued.

A hobby shop owner I talked to yesterday suggested I use Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) in place of it. Don't bother with warnings about how dangerous it is, I know all that. What I need to know is how effective it is before I buy a can of it.

By the way, I'm using Plastruct Plastic Weld at the moment - and it leaves a shiny residue everywhere - YUCK.

I've been pretty happy with Tenax 7R or Tamiya Super Thin. I don't know how easy either product is to find at the moment but they work well for me.
