OK ... I FINALLY got around to playing with the digital camera and figured out how to take a decent pic or 2 (or 11 if you're counting).

These are a few of my Joes. The back story for these guys is my own universe that was inspired by the history of the 12" toy line. (Sorry, I never collected the 3.75" RAH so I bypassed that continuity. I do think they are very cool characters and all - they're just not mine.)

BACK STORY:

GI Joe is formed in the mid 1960's as a Super Elite Task Force from across the 4 branches of the military. It's mission statement was "Any kind of mission. Any time. Any where. Any how" Despite overwhelming success with some of the most unconventional missions, GI Joe is eventually disbanded in 1970 due to changes to the military budget. Its founder and his core specialists, however, formed a a private company of globe-trotting military adventurers and scientists called "Adventure Team, Inc." Basically, if the government is unable to go there for any reason, the privately owned and operated Adventure Team, Inc. will.

Adventure Team, Inc. dominates the headlines of the news media across the globe for most of the next decade before suddenly disappearing from the public eye. Rumours as to the reason for their sudden demise include government intervention, the sudden accidental death of their founder, and financial ruin. In the mid '90's the surviving members of the original GI Joe are recruited to reform and retrain a new generation of top secret Global Task Force Operatives.

Without further adieu, here is my Alpha Squad. In the interest of just getting this done in one afternoon I kept it to simple portrait style photos. Hence, the Comms-Tech Specialist and Medic are missing their back packs in these pics, but you get the idea.

For those interested:
Bodies by Hasbro (my Classic and SA figures from way back)
BDUs - ACE (male) and DML (female)
Footwear - ACE and DML
Web Gear & pouches - ACE
M4s - BBI
M4 ammo - BBI and ACE
M14s - HT
Stoner Light MGs and ammo - DML
Canteens - ACE and BBI
Hydration Packs - HT

Thanks for looking! Hope you Joe Junkies enjoy!

Oh wow! Of course, since I'm a big Joe fan, I love this team. Building a squad this size is no easy task so you have my most sincere salute for a job well done.

My Woodland cammo Joe squad looks a bit similar although I used BBI uniforms and different load bearing gear. Have you chosen head gear for your troops yet?

Wait, I just realized something... you used the AA "recruit" guy as one of your snipers? I've had that same guy as either a sniper or Designated Marksman on several teams I've bashed in the past few years and he's the marksman in my Woodland team right now! :lol That's very cool! I wonder if there's something about that sculpt that suggest him for that role.

Thanks, Guys! Glad you like 'em.

Butch, Terz is absolutely correct. That is the Vietnam AA Nurse HS. It features a short sculpted afro whereas the AA helicopter pilot has a sculpt that models what longer dreads might look like if they were pulled back into a French braid. I still have that one in her original gear but with upgraded DML boots and sidearm. I'll put her up sometime.

Mlatch221, I have head gear for all of them, but I left it out to show off the sculpts. The head gear is about half and half ACE dark brown ball caps and woodland boonie hats.

Again, thanks for all the kind words.

Now I gotta dust off the desert squad.)

You really did an outstanding job on your squad. I'm a big Joe fan from way back, so this really catches my eye. You also did a great job of updating the Joe mythos and sparingly using equipment.

One last BIG THANKS for the kind words!

MikeAP001, I know what you mean - that shaved AA HS just said "sniper" anytime I looked at it.

woodsc, yeah, I really wanted a light, lean & mean Joe team so I was careful not to put too much on them. I drew my inspiration (albeit loosely) from the rescue team in the first Pred film as well as other direct action pics I've seen.

Again, thanks everyone.
