Generic Operator - UMP gunner

This was supposed to be an operator using an AK. Unfortunately, my laziness resulted in tiny pouches on the vest which did not accept AK mags. But they hold UMP mags just fine.

So, now this little guy uses an UMP.

Enjoy. :)

Cool ak--er UMP chest rig. It looks pretty well made despite the previous size intention. Neat HS too.
Super! :thumb:thumb:thumb

I really like this guy. That's some nice sewing on the chest rig. Tiny little bits all sewed together are a nightmare yet you did a very neat job of it, Kudos. How did you work out the pattern? Details, inquiring minds want to know:) Did you sculpt the head as well? 'Cause it rocks too. I really like the last picture. Made my day with this figure. Thanks for sharing him.

Sweet work as always. Those pouches looks mighty fine, and dig that HS's a lot & his slightly side glance. :thumb
Thanks a lot, fellas!

ScanmanDan: Glad you approve of the sewing! Your projects have been truely inspirational!

The rig pattern was imporvised from a google search for various AK compatible equipment. After scaling the product photo in software, I established the approximate dimentions of the fabric, then eyeballed the rest. The pouches ended up much smaller than I intended.

The design is simple and effective. I intend to construct another one with larger measurments.

The headsculpt is scratch built from sculpy.

gaiagear: Your proven results with pupil positions have been great reference for my decision making process! Props to you, man! :thumb
Wow, this is a great fig! The scratch built head and chest rig are awesome!! Your headsculpts are amazingly lifelike and your scratchmade items like that chestrig are sweet! :thumb
Great figure, pics and poses!
Your figures always blow me away, keep up the good work!!

Thanks a lot man!

These are great learning experiences in construction of home made gear.

Needless to say, feedbacks are always motivational!
Nice job on the pouch, stitches are all uniform and small, nice material too. Did you try Krinkov magazines? They are a little smaller and may fit. I always liked the Krinkov myself, kind of an AK carbine, compact and high rate of fire. Nice kit on this figure too; simple and effective, very intense stare.

Great idea! I'll have to find some and try it out! Thanks!
Great job on the chest harness; not a thing wrong with packing a UMP.
Cool! This is sweet!!! It has kinda cartoonish, slicky stylish designer feel to it!!!
Nice and we want more, and I think the UMP suits him better than an AK, I can tell you that! COOL I Say!!!
Not bad. The head is a bit cartoonish but looks sweet as the same time. <Sweet as in badass> Love the last shot!

Great job on your Chest Rig!!
I do have to say another thing too. The UMP looks freaking great on your bash man. Great work!!!
I have been meaning to try my hand at scratch building gear but I am way to impatient. Since I dont get much free time I am always in a hurry to finish one or two projects in one "bash session". The rigs that I have scratch built (by that I mean pulling apart various rigs and mix matching part to create my own) I have always used super glue instead of sewing. You can quickly and easily make changes or fix mistakes. Outstanding work!
Thanks man!

I too have used fabric glue for parts that are too small to sew. That's a great idea!
