Here's a fun one I'm finally done with.
Forrest Gump in Vietnam.

"Get Down! Shut Up!"

(I also re-tooled my RTO and brought Lt. Dan with me.)

Two things right off, he had a green helmet band instead of black, and also grey duct-tape
instead of black on the spare radio battery on his pack.

The hardest part was finding out his exact gear load-out, and his helmet graffiti.

"Gotta find Bubbaaaa!"

Thanks Val!
Yep, that's what I put on the helmet, but it's a bit big...got a little carried away, haha.
I just need to source another toothbrush...I only had one and made it red for Lt. Dan. I can probably rig something up with some brain-cell rubbing.

I may do up a Bubba, too...just need to try and find a suitable head sculpt. Was sort of thinking of the DML Ice Cube head with the mustache removed.
Jaw Neck Art Wood Eyewear

A pretty intense look, but the expression on the lips is pretty close to Bubba's jutting lower lip.

Nice shooting of pictures!
I agree on Bubba's head: it may be a good base and iirc he sometimes had that expression when he was under fire. Besides the mustache I will have a good look at the eyebrows too. As for Charlie they were always looking for him, never to be seen, i'n'it? ;)

Seriously cool rendition.

It looks pretty damn close to perfect to me.

Don't remember that large wood fence in the movie.....:wink

Just kidding! Real nice work on Gump!

And do I see Lt. Dan on the horn in the second photo? I think I do!

Thanks a lot guys, really appreciate it!

Haha can't sneak anything past you, OSP ;)
Yep, I brought Lt. Dan out to bark some orders.
I tell ya, it was a pain in the butt to get these guys to stand on their own, haha

I think the nexus of the movie and scale reality works very well. The Vietnam segment was done pretty straightforward (with the added nod to his almost inhuman speed), and your troops and Gump look as serious as they would be.

On that linked page, Utah Bob posted the following:
Okay, I think I have it. Gump was in the 9th ID. A co. 2nd bn 47th Inf Regt.* So it's G(nmi) F 2/47

Thanks PD!
That is what's written on my Gump's helmet. It's a little bigger, and goes a bit further back than the 1/1 references I could find..but it's there. The Bug repellent blocks a bit of it.

Great outdoor shot! To this day, watching this movie boggles my mind. Figures and details are top notch. Do you plan on making the changes to helmet band and duct tape as mentioned? Just curious, whole scene is great as is .
