Started off just building a basic "saddle tramp" for a buddy of mine and he began to look like Festus so much I changed directions! I have added spurs since these photos were taken but it's all done from memory.
"Goll-lly Miss Kitty. You sho-ore do look mighty purdy in that thar negli....negli....negliet.....ah, evening dress. An you smell sweeter than suck egg mule in a flower patch, ta' boot!"
That reminds me of one of those get your picture taken in an old thyme outfit in black and white at the fair setting. That thar stache is burly, nice one!
Wow...that's really good.
Funny thing is....right now I am playing bass in a classic country band and the lady singer used to tour with Ken Curtis until his death in the early 80's.....did you know he was one of the original Sons of the Pioneers as well as an actor...he had a very nice voice....look him up on youtube.
Just too good, you've turned out ol' Festus in all of his rustic glory. Another of the long line of supporting actors that gave westerns real atmosphere.
The backdrop I built last summer for the Triad show. It was a setting for my vampire females. For this scene I gave the photos an amber wash but luckily Festus is obstructing the horror subject in one of the pics!
