Hi all

just wondering anyone ever had issues with Leo aka Goodshipped on eBay? I placed pre-orders last year for each of the Hot Toys Rogue One figures.

Since then, I have had financial issues, and asked if I could cancel them. I know this was to be special consideration as know what retailers have to fork out for cancelled pre-orders. Anyhow, he told me he had already paid Hot Toys for all figures....even those which aren't due out till end of this year (is that true?)

Anyhow, I said I'd do best to honour them, as I had made that commitment. But I ended up opening a paypal dispute as the first lot of figures were released and I heard nothing. He then told me that the shoretroopers would be out end of April. End of April came, I saw lots of retailers already stocking and selling them, as well as Chirrut. Goodshipped answered the paypal dispute immediately saying all was fine with the orders and will be coming soon. I foolishly closed the dispute. Since then, the shore trooper is being parted out stateside, Imwe is widely available and I have had no comms from him, just now and then get told that they're not released yet....which is BS. I have now asked for all deposit money back as he has failed to even supply any figures at all

It was done off eBay...he offered me discount if I ordered them outside of eBay, so another thing I did wrong. Is there anything I can do? Or should I just kiss the 20% on each figure I paid goodbye?

And I know I started this mess, but my financial situation changed unexpectedly. No excuse to back out of pre-orders as I do appreciate the cost to dealers....but this started back in December right after I placed them.

Any advice would be good. I've dealt with him before and never had issues, and was reluctant to do this, but needed advice from you guys before my next steps. If indeed, there are any.

No knowledge of this guy specifically.

(1) There could be remedies built into the means of payment, Paypal or credit card or whatever - though you may be on the wrong side of the expiry of time periods anyway. (2) civil remedies like Small Claims Court may exist but they are likely not a practical possibility.

(3) Option 3 might be if there is any possibility of reopening a closed dispute based specifically on being able to show that you closed it on false pretenses based on promises in writing that then he did not honour -- has anyone here had any success with something like that?

More interesting is (4): if he took you to doing deals off eBay sure that's bad for you in terms of lack of supervision and enforceability, but it could be bad for him too insofar as eBay wouldn't like it and he might be more responsive to avoid getting reported on that (hopefully it was at least in writing and you kept copies?) Was it an entirely separate off-eBay deal or did he get you to convert something that started on eBay to something done off eBay? If it's the second one then eBay might be able to do something more direct as it would I guess give them direct jurisdiction, if that's the right word. Even if it's just a case of someone introduced on eBay soliciting you to do something off eBay, still eBay wouldn't like that very much, and maybe if you raise the subject Goodshipped will "come towards the middle" and work out something better than where you are now.

Also don't beat yourself up about this, sometimes "Life happens" and you can't go through with something you committed to -- but your whole text shows you may not have been perfect but you were sensitive and not arrogant about it. Also even if you did become maybe a "problem customer" I don't think there's a justification for where he left you.

I have done a number of transactions with him over the years, but I never did do a pre-order on figures. Never had any issues with him with the other deals.

All I can say is keep in contact with him and try to work it out. If he isn't shipping and you've paid the full amount, get Ebay and Paypal involved for sure. It should let him know that you aren't happy with the current situation, and even if you have closed old claims, you have messages to back up that you did start them, and re-open the cases, or start new ones with a reference to the ones that were started and closed. If you are just cancelling a pre-order, you may lose your deposit as some sellers don't do refunds on deposits(I don't know the seller's position on pre-orders). Either way, it is time to get the ball rolling again if there is no product being shipped, and no tracking number reference.

thanks for the responses :) Yeah I went to originally buy shore trooper on eBay and asked if could pay deposit which he then said sure, but off eBay as would also men cheaper price (I do have copies of these).

And yeah, eBay policy is to ship within 30 days, which is where I am picking him up. As said I have had several times with no issues but just this one, and yeah I know I haven't been perfect, but thanks, we've all been there!

I'm waiting to see if get response from him this time, and if not, will highlight to eBay I think about being steered to do it offline and for advertising products which could not be delivered within their times...

Retailers only pay when the product is ready to be shipped from a given brand or distributor.

I bought something from him as recently as last month, and it arrived promptly with no problem. It was not a preorder. I hate to preorder for many reasons, including the potential for the issues you are having.
I did have a somewhat similar experience recently with a different e-bay seller. I had preordered Pangaea's Trojan General and many months later there was still no word on the figure, although I had seen it "in stock" even stateside and people showing it off on youtube. So I checked with the seller, who replied "still in pre-order stage." More than a month later, the same thing. I finally tired of waiting (patience is not one of my many virtues), found a seller who was also in China but at least had it in stock and for a lower price, and ordered it from them. I asked the original seller to cancel my order even though I realized they will keep part of my payment as restocking fee, which they did, but they did refund me the rest. It wasn't a very happy experience and I certainly didn't save money in the end, but at least I got the figure.
If you paid by paypal (which is technically possible outside of eBay), you can open a separate case with them (and you can open cases with them longer than eBay lets you). In my experience (maybe twice), Paypal has been pretty supportive and responsive, but in those cases the seller was incommunicado and no item arrived.

Thanks this is what I had thought - so he is totally lying saying he has paid Hot Toys in full for K2S0, Jyn Erso, the Deluxe Death Trooper or any of them as I contacted him 3 months before the first one was due for release.

Sadly it was PayPal cases I had opened, and closed again on basis the figures would be released....I think I will contact them and say what's happened.

All I can speak to is how things work on the business side. I should note that there are sometimes exceptions in the case of a high priced specialty item where a deposit may be required, but even that depends on the relationship between the retailer and the distributor/brand.

As you have purchased off ebay, ebay will be very unlikely to get involved in a refund scenario, but you may want to alert them to the activity. Paypal's official protection period is 180 days, although you may want to call in and discuss with them on this basis (paypal policy on presales can be found here:

Am I allowed to presell?

Yes, you are allowed to presell items as long as you follow these guidelines.
Off eBay presale requirements
  • If you sell items in an online store (not eBay), you must guarantee delivery within 20 days from the date of purchase and make sure that the customer knows they are buying a presale item.
  • Before you can withdraw a payment, we may ask for documentation to validate that you will be able to deliver the customer's order within the specified timeline. We may ask for:
  • Information about your supplier such as a contract and/or their contact information
  • Proof of purchase from your supplier
  • Invoices
  • Shipping receipts
  • We ask for information about your supplier and invoices to verify that you have a product or service and we ask for shipping information to verify that you have shipped orders.

Well it appears I have lost. He contacted me to ask if still wanted the orders. Luckily I'd only paid deposits on them all....he has now gone silent, and refusing to answer my requests to be refunded the deposits. Lesson learned. First time pre-ordered via Ebay and not a normal dealer, and the last

This totally sucks @$$ and you learned a very hard lesson that'll you'll never forget.

NEVER pre-order anything on eBay. Regardless how many times other may post/say that . . . some never will listen/read and do so and learn the hard way. That is the reality.

There are reliable and trustworthy sources for pre-order with deposit, but overall eBay is not one of them.

Learn from it and move on. Follow up with PayPal, but I'm guessing you're SOL with them as well due to the amount of time.

Waiting on that too as not heard back from them either but not holding out hope as I closed the cases but I have stressed they were closed on false promises
Call rather than send a message, and ask for the appropriate department to discuss a problem with a transaction involving a seller that has violated policy.
