A live-action 3-D remake of the 1995 anime movie Ghost in the Shell. The film will be made by DreamWorks and it is apparently Steven Spielberg's own involvement that made this project go through.

"Ghost in the Shell is one of my favorite stories," Spielberg said. "It's a genre that has arrived, and we enthusiastically welcome it to DreamWorks."

No production date or other details are known at this stage.

Ghost in the Shell is set in the not-too-distant future, when an unnamed government uses lifelike cyborgs or "enhanced" humans for undercover work. One of the key cyborgs is The Major, Motoko Kusanagi, who resembles a cross between The Terminator and a Playboy centerfold. She finds herself caught up in a tangled web of espionage and counterespionage as she searches for the mysterious superhacker known as "The Puppet Master."

Oh.... Crap !!!! thanks for the heads up Norm . Speilberg being involved sounds promissing given what He did on Minority Report , but i've always said that if it were ever to be made live action the only people that could do it justice would be the Wachowski's ( Matrix ) .. We shall see :thumb

Good timing for Medicom to have the GITS license. I wonder if they'll get it for this as well. Though IMHO I'd much rather have Hot Toys get the license through Sideshow Collectibles.

I just hope they handle this with good care. It's one of the major anime icons.

I have one question though... will the boobies be live action or CG?
