OK, things to do on a Sunday afternoon while recovering from a bout of food poisoning. (Contaminated jalapeno peppers - who knew?!)

Anyway, here's a squad of Desert Specialist Joes I finished a couple of months back (to compliment the Woodland Squad I posted), but haven't had the time to photograph.

For those who missed it the first time, here's the back story - i.e. my own twist on the GI Joe mythos, which kind of follows the 12" figure history up to the end of 2005:

GI Joe is formed in the mid 1960's as a Super Elite Task Force from across the 4 branches of the military. Its mission statement was "Any kind of mission; any time; any where; any how." Despite overwhelming success with some of the most unconventional missions, GI Joe is eventually disbanded in 1970 due to changes to the military budget. Its founder and his core specialists, however, form a private company of globe-trotting military adventurers and scientists called "Adventure Team, Inc." Basically, if the government is unable to go there for any reason, the privately owned and operated Adventure Team, Inc. will.

Adventure Team, Inc. dominates the headlines of the news media across the globe for most of the next decade before suddenly disappearing from the public eye. Rumours as to the reason for their sudden demise include government intervention, the sudden accidental death of their founder, and financial ruin. In the mid '90's the surviving members of the original GI Joe are recruited to reform and retrain a new generation of top secret GI Joe Task Force Operatives.

Parts Breakdown:
Nudes - all Hasbro Classic Collection
BDU's - ACE (except for zippered sweater, which was DML from Graham)
T-shirts - BBI, ACE
Headgear - BBI boonies and ACE ballcaps
Boots - DML
Belts - made from GSTG web gear kits
M4's - BBI
M4 w/ M203's - Toyrrific
M14's - Hot Toys
Stoners - DML
Pistols & holsters - ACE
Knives - DML Kbars (not seen from this angle)
Vests - various ACE
Spare M4 mags - BBI and ACE (filling all the pouches)
Spare M14 mags - BBI and Dr. Figure (in big side pouches of the SNiper / Marksmen chest rigs)

Other kit like packs and radio I didn't set up for the photo shoot because - well - I got lazy and just wanted to get the base figures up.

Thanks Everyone! I'm glad you enjoyed them. They were a blast to put together. (It had to be since it took a year of weekends!) With the woodland squad and this one that's 2 squads down. Now I gotta start thinking about what I'm going to do with the next batch ...

Good job!
what I like the most is the fact that a basic figure can be enhance so much by new gear....to me that is really cool ....because the figures now a days are way too expensive.

Wow, Rob, you really did them up good! Having seen these man's work with my own eyes, I knew these would be killer.

An idea for the next squad? How about multicam!
