Crysis!!!!!! Good Lord what a PC Killer!

Crysis, what can I say. This thing eats up PC's. Kills them. If you are not running a dual core unit with SLI cards, good luck with getting the eye cabdy this game boasts. I run a 3.6 G P4 (old by today's standards) 2gig mem and an ATI X1950pro. I can run the game at 1024 x 768 with everything on medium. No AA. I am going to try it with 4x AA tonight.

But man, not impressed with the game. The headshot mechanic is way off. Like it doesn't regisiter or something. Line a guy up at close range and it's like you miss. Come for a headshot from behind, drops them everytime. But, not right in my opinion.

Fun but frustrating so far.

Would mine handle it? I don't know how to tell what I have. What are SLI cards? Here's my specs:

Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz (2CPUs)
Memory: 2046MB RAM
Chip Type: Nvidia GeForce 8500 GT
DAC Type: Integrated RAMDAC
Approx. Total memory: 512.0 MB
Current Display Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz)
A guy in my gaming group built a $6,000 PC with two 8800GTX in SLI and gets only 40FPS on max settings in Crysis.

54thCuda2, SLI are when two or more graphics cards are used. ATI has something similar called cross fire.

I'm getting my new parts now, my agp rig is done. Especially if I'm going to do UT3 competitively next year. I'm on the fence about getting either the new 8800GT or waiting till Dec to get the new version of the 8800GTS which will replace the GTX. I really hate that supply and demand is playing so much of a roll on these 8800GT cards.

Then there's the decision to stick with XP or go to Vista 64. I'll probably wind up dual booting.

Personally I feel the performance increase that SLI offers isn't worth the cost just yet.
Well played it somemore. The hit detection in this game is terrible. And the shotguns are messed up. Guy probably 50 yards away hiding behind a car took me down with 2 blasts. Not impressed yet.
I suggest you run it at no more than 1280 x 1024
this is my RIG

So I'd probably need more of what for it to play good on mine?
I think a supercomputer will run it ok.
Is anyone else having issues with the games hit detection?
I've played the demo and the hit detection seems to work like you have bad ammo. The destructive environment is perhaps the best I've seen in a game. The vehicle aiming system isn't the easiest to use, they just have the reticle in the middle usually where the vehicle is covering the screen. The models are very good. The details are great and the weapons are awesome. Can you say Nuke tank?
I've read that you can install the game on older machines but it really does need new hardware to run on higher settings.
Ive read online the hit detection is a issue
id expect a game patch very soon
remember this is a cutting edge game
as cool as CoD was it was based on an old game engine
crysis is brand new from the ground up
I seriously hope the fix that. I am getting tired of having to use half a mag in somones face to drop them.
Their previous game "Far Cry" looked amazing but suffered from the same issues:

1) Bleeding-edge graphics slowing down systems.

2) weak hit detention. I remember emptying a mag just to bring down a guy, let alone a monster.

But boy it sure does look purdy!

These are the games you load up to show off your new PC to the guys.
I haven't even bothered with it since my last post. So dissappointed in this game. Thankfully there is COD4.
I picked up Crysis but I'm still building my new PC, so haven't even taken it out of the box yet. (as a matter of fact, my specs are pretty much the same as USMCChet's) But the reviews I've seen have been positive, for the most part. Except for the high hardware requirements, most players are impressed with it. I still need to pick up CoD4, though.
X-Play (on the G4 network) only gave it a 3 out of 5, and they were really looking forward to this game. They compared it to Far Cry--great graphics, but a lot of problems with gameplay. They cited physics problems, and also seemed to have problems with hit detection. They also talked about it chugging along even on really good PCs.
I played this on my vintage VICTOR "IV" TALKING MACHINE WITH MAHOGANY HORN, 1908 and all that came out was quiet riot tunes!! This game sucks!!
LOL! OMG that is hilarious.
