Body question

1152 Views 14 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Davinator65
I recently switched my Android hunter (Deckard) over to a Sideshow body because I dig the wrist articulation. Problem is the SS body is a tad too tall. No biggy, but I want him just right. Any suggestions for a subsitute body for a Dragon body? The main things I'm looking for is compatability with Dragon heads, wrist articulation and the same width in the shoulders and chest, otherwise the clothes won't fit.
Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?

The new Hot Toys bodies are awesome. They come with two different neck posts to accommodate heads from different makers.
From my experience, the shoulders on a SS body are a little wider than a Dragon one. Most Dragon bodies are the same, except the latest Neo version that has been coming with the US figures seems to have slightly wider shoulders than the previous version due to the change in shoulder articulation. But Dragon bodies have different wrist articulation than the SS bodies.

The new Barrack Sergeant body has the BBi style wrists and the adaptor for either BBi heads or Dragon heads. I don't know if that would suote your needs.
A Hot Toys body with one of those neck adapters for Dragon heads creates a proportional figure. I have have done so and the figure looks accurate as opposed to having a long neck. Otherwise, you can cut two millimeters from a Dragon head sculpt and then glue the neck adapter onto it for perhaps an ideal proportion for neck length.
If you like the Dragon body but not the hands then simply cut the forearms off and swap them out. I do it all the time on my clones, body part swapping that is. This way you can keep the Sideshow hands and fit any Dragon head you want. :shades
The Hot Toys and ACE bodies will work with neck adapters, I think. Those Twisting Toys hands look good as well, or you might consider hacking up SST arms and adapting the hands. Would the Neo3 DML body's shoulders be too wide?

The figure was originally fitted with a Dragon body, hence the clothes fit well. I'm just looking to get a body which isn't broad in the shoulders and chest with ball jointed wrists. I was thinking maybe a G3 body, but they seem to be a little barrel-chested and broad shouldered. Are the new Hot Toys bodies in scale with Dragon? I own a Hot Toys Dwayne Hicks and he's a lot bigger compared to my other Dragon figures.
bumpity.
you guys at OSW are the bee's knees. is there anyone out there that knows more about customizing than you fellas?

i'm thinking of doing a dragon to hot toys body swap too and had a quick question about the hands. Are they compatible? I know for Sideshow and Hot Toys bodies, there's some drilling involved. I was hoping you can just use dragon hands directly on hot toys wrist sockets. is that the case?

thanks in advance.

Unfortunately you can't. Dragon wrist posts are much thinner than Hot Toys. Be aware that Hot Toys bodies are slightly larger in scale than Dragon. At least in my experience.
In response to all the welcome advice in this thread, I deciced to get one of these:http://www.monkeydepot.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=37
Will let you know how it turns out.
thanks for the advice bud! i've only ever done one kitbash before - that was a very quick bruce wayne with the takara head on a hot toys body. you're right about the hot toys body being big! had to seriously stretch the dragon-scale clothing i got to get it on there.
The Hot Toys bodies are strappin' big fellas, and the Neo3 has pretty broad shoulders from the enhanced articulation. Lota guys seem to use early DML bodies and/or do surgery to reduce the chest or add slope to the shoulders.

Some work would allow bbi ball-joint hands to work on DML arms, and there's a few who've grafted HotToys or hobby kit ankle joints to the legs.

Roger that PD. As you can see in the photo review at Monky Depot the chest is not going to be an issue. I'm still concerned about the broadness in the shoulders. We'll see what happens. Even if the body doesn't cut it for Deckard, I'll definately use it for something else. I can already think of a couple of my figs which need a re-fit. Looks like a super poseable body.
Well, I gotta say, I got my BS body from MonkeyDepot, did the refit and........it rocks!
very, very poseable.
The only complaint is that the joints are are a 'little loose'.
Not too much. But a little.
If you're fitting a Dragon head, the neck-post with the head attached will look a little long.
Don't cut it. The neck of the head that is.
Dress the figure first.
Then observe.
It is a greatly poseable body, same dimensions as a Dragon Neo,
and much more poseable.
Cheap too.
Buy one for your wife...but wait.....there's more....
