Asking for advice: sell it or not?

1514 Views 18 Replies 14 Participants Last post by  Alby the Slayer
I have a HT Avengers Black Widow, new, I took only the cardboard once to see it but it's all closed.

I had her for many months now and I continue to think if I have to sell her or just keep her for me.
It's my second female action figure and I like it 'cause it's not slutty or too unrealistic.
But I'm also pretty sure it was an impulsive buy.
Usually I buy something and I open and "use" it in the next week, this is the first time I wait so much for open a box.

So, this thread is not to sell her, if I do it I will do it in the right section, in the future.
But I want to ask an advice. What would you do with this particular release?

Thx :)

If you're not really attached to it and don't think you'll regret it later, then my advice is to sell it and make a nice profit which you can use to buy something that you really want.

If you have to ask then don't as you'll just regret it down the road and on the plus side, she's HT so can only go up in price!!
Yea i agree do not sell it, the whole of the avengers collection from ht just keeps on going up in price. 2-3 years down the line the price will double...... if HT dont do another version that is!
Don't sell it. Hang on to it. Put it in a box in a safe area. One day you will run across it again and then you will sell it with no regret.
Thank you highwayman57 and shovelchop81. I think I'm not regret it, but I don't know if I really wanna keep it.

SWAT, sure HT will produce another Widow (new captain america, avengers 2,etc.) I I wait another year, maybe we will see it something new, I don't think we will see a price drop anyway :).
No.

Keep her.

If you really need the $, then post her for sale in OPEN MARKET or go the eBay route.
With Avengers 2 a certainty.....of course HT will release another Black Widow.....another Iron Man......etc etc etc, sell it and buy something you really will appreciate having.

I never get the point of threads like this. It's just such a matter of personal taste, you might as well ask us if you should wear that blue sweater or that green sweater. It would be different if you were in some position like "My husband bought himself a HT Black Widow and I don't know anything about it, but now he's left me for that cheerleader, and they moved away to Mexico, should I sell the figure?"

But in your case, you clearly know all the basic stuff about the figure, and you actually bought it for yourself, not inherited it from someone or as part of a package deal -- so what's a group of other collectors (with probably very different personal tastes from you) gonna know about what you like? I'm giving this the benefit of the doubt (so I don't jump to any conclusion this was really "If anyone wants this, PM me"); but seriously, what could you expect us to meaningfully tell you?

I say sell it. If you were that attached to it or really that amazed you wouldn't be asking us if you should sell it or not. If you have to ask that tell me how much you really want this figure. beside there will be more Black Widow to comes. Can anyone say Avengers 4 or even 6 as long as the cast don't get too old....

Boy we must have a lot of prudes :lol:lol:lol on this forum, " not slutty...Tatical Hookers, butt too big...breast too big...:lol:lol boy I would hate to go out with some of you guys...a bunch of kill joys....I got the cat woman figure the other day and thank goodness the guy who sold it to me told me I could send her back since I was such a good customer. For me she wasn't sexy enough for 200.00 but that's just me. And a special shout out to one of our members who would not sell the figure to me minus the head. there was not much I liked about the Cat Woman figure and I doubt they would have wanted to refund my money, not that I blame them. I get the sneaky hunch the same body used for Cat woman is probably the same body used for Black Widow and in that case I am glad I passed on that figure too. Nice how things work out sometimes....:thumb:thumb

Sometimes friends need to ask each other for advice... we're all friends here, right? :D
Btw, that Dear Abby stuff is hilarious...

Alby, i agree with the others who stated to sell it and buy something else you really like.

MAM, I expect just your opionion, what you will do in this case, don't worry about what it is, I just wanna hear it. Even if you think it's a stupid question to ask.
Sure I know everyone had to have one about it and it's always interesting know what the other collectors think for that and since I don't have any friends in rl who collect action figures.
Thanks for your kindly benefit of the doubt, anyway, I didn't even think it was useful open a "lure" thread to sell a HT Avengers BW.

Masamune I really love "big girls", and all that but I do not collect them, that's just only this :)

Thanks Rollotomasi,Chelseaboy,DFC,masamune and Vince for your advice.

I rarely open something I've bought right away, I've had figures sit for years before I finally get around to opening them up...it's just how I am.

My advice is to sell her, make a small profit most likely, and then look to the future with your pile of cash to see what else you *REALLY* want.

Sounds like this was a "this figure looks pretty hot but I have no real attachment to the subject matter".....we've ALL been there.....

I don't think holding onto her and selling her for $700 is a realistic expectation in the figure, with TWO versions of the character out now and likely at least 1-2 more versions in the future (Avengers 2, Winter Soldier).....I can't see these holding value more than $25-100 over their retail purchase price........which to me isn't a reason not to open something but to others might be.

So..choice is yours.
DAMN . . .

I think I had the briefest/shortest post/reply word per word compared to everyone else regarding the OP's question.

That's a first for me I think.

;)
Given thats its the Christmas time of year I think you should give the figure to someone who wanted it but missed out on the original release due to health/financial issues.
PM me for the address of said person. ;)

I vote we strike a "Pat Yourself On The Back" medal to celebrate the occasion......:lol
Don't sell it nor keep it!!!
Send it to me instead!! :woohoo

Just joking.. I just want to be included in this thread :D
Well then AlbytS, since it sounds like you're still generally into the hobby, don't have to sell her because you need the money etc etc, but you may be experiencing slight impulse-buyer's-remorse, I would say - you don't have to make any decision.

You could just put it out there in the OSW market threads that you'd be into swapping a mint-ish HT Black Widow for something comparable in whatever specific area really excites you. Then just see what offers you get. It will help you clarify your own feelings. The day you find yourself thinking "Wow, I'd much rather have this guy's HT Robocop than my HT Black Widow" (or whatever) you'll know where you stand and you can swap w/out EBay fees, taxes, etc. If time passes and you say "I'd much rather keep her than swap for any of this other stuff," again, you'll know where you stand.

Me, I wouldn't trade mine for gold. BTW you can see some of what I did with her in this thread that people seemed to enjoy ("Damnit, Fury, we agreed, no more missions like this!") and it might even encourage you to keep her.

Yes, that's an interesting suggestion. Never thought of swapping, it can be great if I see something valuable for me.
Thank you.
Yeah I remember your diorama, quite awesome and funny. Original, too . :D
Thanks also to HeadRusch1.
