Regardless of the inventor's political & cultural affiliation & differences, he designed one of the most respected & still formidable assault rifles of the modern age even into the 21st century.

He wrote poems and wanted to design farm machinery.
When men like Kalashnikov, Colt, Browning, Stoner and others are remembered, it cannot just be simplified down to who used their designs, and how.
Maybe he's found the peace he wanted.
Just a question; in the link, he is quoted in the story as saying:

I created this weapon primarily to defend the borders of our fatherland
I though Russia/USSR was the motherland..........?
Different individuals and groups use different terms, not necessarily meaning they disagree, just that they emphasize the place of their birth, or the land of their fathers. Or, it could be as simple as a mis-translation.

I concur.

I always refer to my country of birth as the homeland country.

Same difference? :lol
He invented one of the most well known, one of the best built, one of the most widely used and one of the most historical tools ever.
And that's basically what he made. Some used it for good, some for bad. He made one of the best rifles around, and nobody can take that from him.

BTW, anyone else notice: 47+ 47 = 94 :think
