Every Since I received my Pop Toys Sherlock figure, I was trying to figure out a way to show him off properly. I decide to build a small vignette based on the size of shelving I have so that it would basically fit and cover the walls and floor. I made this using hardboard, scrap-booking paper and a wood trim stick (for the fireplace and shelving) I bought for .69. In total I have about $10.00 invested including the couch in this project. And my time of course. I know its not as accurate as some I have seen but it works, because I made it myself and it was a fun cheap project. My daughter helped with the books which were all just doll house printable from the internet, cut and glued with Popsicle sticks in between to act as paper.
Thanks

Yes I know my sherlock is not shown, these were just quick pics as i was making the framing, still need to add a number of "extra's" to the project including pictures on the walls...

Very nicely done, but I have a question: is this supposed to be a modern room or one from a Victorian-era setting? Just wondering, because if it's from the Victorian period, the lamps on the walls would be gaslights instead of electric.

That's quite a set-up, Crusader1! :thumb
Speaking of Victorian-type wall lamps... google "finger gift mini wall lamp hook"... i bought a black one at a store in Taiwan last December.
Its scaled to 1/6, lights up, has a magnetic base... comes in black, white and gold... paint job looks great... doesn't look toy-ish at all.

I didn't buy it here... just for reference pics...

A bit late to the party on this one, but the loss is mine.

That's really nice work and I like it very much. Especially appreciate the fact that you got your daughter in on the project.

That should be a source of pride in your collection and deservedly so. And, Holmes had better appreciate it, too.

Great work! Glad to hear you are doing it as a team. Excellent use of props and the internet for the printables.

HI, thanks for all the replys. It was a fun project, now I just need to fill in the shelves and flush out the walls. To answer a few questions, it was not made to fit a detof , I made it to fit the shelving I have. It is 14" high x 14" deep by 22" wide. It is suppose to be the Victorian age and I wanted to add a few lights but that it all i had. Thanks Rollo for the lamp link, will be looking into those...
The couch was a yard sale find. I bought it with a couple of chairs. These were home made by a guy for his daughters barbies. I was able to get all 3 for a dollar. I was so happy with them I gave them $5 for them...

A few more pics within the shelving unit...

And finally, my Dr. Watson....

It looks really great, it will look even better when Holmes gets there.

I probably over-thought things in my head because I figured with the lamps etc. you might be deliberately going for a style that was not strictly "date and time specific."

I might be tempted to shoot "V.R." bullet holes in your wall like Doyle Holmes did. BTW do you know you're within fairly easy reach of a free-to-visit world class collection of Sherlock Holmes books and artifacts Arthur Conan Doyle collection has a Toronto home ? It has an actual room decorated like 221B Baker Street (which has, or at least used to have, the "V.R." bullet holes as I recall). Next time you're in Toronto your kids might enjoy a free visit at Metro Library, just check in advance as the visiting hours are limited. Might give you some more ideas.
