    Now let's do some trivia!

The record for longest manned flight without landing took place in 1958 and it still stands today. How long did the flight last and how was the plane refueled?

    Let's see those guesses!

    Heya Gerald and all!

The record was set by two gents, Robert Timm and John Cook flying a Cessna 172 continuously for 64 days, 22 hours, 19 minutes and 5 seconds. They flew a little over 150000 mile in that time, or roughly 6 times around the planet. Refueling was accomplished by flying low and dropping a grappeling hook down to a GMC truck speeding along below them on a closed section of highway, pulling a refueling hose up to the plane where one of the two aviators filled up a belly tank. Fuel was then pumped from the belly tank up to wing tanks.

Their adventure makes for quite a read... see it here:The Flight Endurance World Record • Disciples of Flight

    Enjoy!
