    What is it?

Upgrading my Taowan 250/3' radio. What is the part I marked on picture attached with red arrow? Is it a microphone? Or just a fictional part added by Taowan? Any ideas?

YES!!! My uncle talked about it! He was in command of a 222 in the DAK!!! In his letters he wrote about mistaking it for a mic in the dark.
It was used to reduce the interference of the signal, both in bound and out bound! He died in Tobork in May of 1943.
