ETA: and yes, I feel you on that one, synthetic hair can be a bit of a pain. While working with natural fibers takes some getting used to, I find that natural hair is much finer, softer, and well, more natural looking, and contributes a great deal to the realism at this scale. If you plan to try gluing something like mohair or tibetan lamb hair directly to the head, I recommend both cleaning the plastic scalp with acetone to remove the 'shiny' surface, and also sanding it a little bit first. This will help a lot with the glue adhering to the plastic.
