French field artillery of the napoleonic wars -WIP-

Brown Art had posted their french field artillery figure here and I posted first pictures of my project there too. I made some progress and donīt want to "spam" Brown Arts Thread, so here are my troops so far:

It all started with this guy:

I had a DiD Gribeauval cannon to let the first gunner man it

IMG_7867 (2) by petemit, auf Flickr

IMG_7864 (2) by petemit, auf Flickr

New men arrived and got different heads to reach the goal of the minimum of six figures for one cannon

IMG_8229 (1) by petemit, auf Flickr

But while I still was collecting troops, I was lucky to get a Soldier Story Gribeauval...bad idea for an armybuilder like me...

On the left side we have the DiD Gribeauval, on the right side the one from Soldier Story, the DiD one has the wrong colour, itīs too bright, more like on russian cannons of that era

A second cannon? That would be twelve men then...happy collecting of troops again.

IMG_9197 (2) by petemit, auf Flickr

The twelth man kept his original brown art head

Brown Art...I did what I could to make your first napoleonic figure a bestseller Two more are mint in box and two of the Marshal figures are in hand too. Right now I will replace the DiD cannon by a brown art cannon and then I can finally take some "action pics".

Great to see a whole detatchment of these, and interesting to compare the two cannon models. The Soldier Story one looks the better, probably because of the better wheels, which look a lot closer to the originals. The one thing that could perhaps be improved are those plastic hats , which are somehow not quite convincing... too rigid I think.
But what an investment you have made !

Thank you both for your comments

@Tony Barton Yes, I will paint a bicorne flat black the next days and maybe that will be an improvement already to let them look a bit more authentic, but I like them more than a Shako. And the investment...oh Lord...itīs this damn "armybuilder Virus" inside of me , crazy to buy such a lot of figures, but itīs impressive to see them outdoors in action, in the past a lot of ACW collectors made wonderful pictures of their troops, I hope to make some good ones as well from my men.

I look forward to those pics.
    "ACW collectors"?
BTW from whom did you buy the whole lot of figs? They must be in love with ya...!
You have solved the first problem of 1/6 army building: forking out all the needed moolah. Now you need tackle the 2nd one: to fully personalize all those similarly looking XIX century dudes. You had a good start with all those different heads, but you have to go on: different weatherins, outfit variations, idiosincratic differences, etc.
And take pics as you do it!
    ;-)

    You are welcome Tolerancer.

I have bought a brown art Gribeauval in the meantime but I still need to make some pictures of all three together. A first look showed that the colour of the brown art matches the one from Soldier Story, the weels have the same diameter but they are a bit wider.

    Ok.
Pay your attention - there are not bearded faces in a period of Great Army, I suppose (I've never seen historical documents - pictures|paintings with references to bearded faces); it wasn't common. I think a REGLAMENT's of Great Army contains an answer for this question.

the core of my collection is the 1/6 artillery I've amassed over the years,
so this gets me right to the heart, I love it.
(hmmmm, now for a team of Mr. Z horses.... just kidding!)

fantastic set up! Those artillery pieces are amazing and you are like me and squad builder haha. I have a squad of 8 Russian Naval Infantry on pre-order.

They look great together and accentuate the uniforms and really nice choice of sculpts.

I thought of that already. I have several Dragon horses and a complete horse drawn cannon would look great, maybe one day...

Nice job on the Soviet Naval Infantry as well, Pete!

They look great in both 1:1 and 1:6!
