I can't believe this dml offering got 4 pages of replies. It's not even worth one page.

To compare BBI Rascon to Dragons Kirby I do not think it even comes close.

Not surprised... if it were positive response, I would be surprised. But with the exception of maybe one or two posts this is all pretty vitriolic.

Yes true but when Rascon came out the TS sets were not out yet and when they were it saved me the trouble and money of purchasing a TS LCE set.
Now unlike Dragon Kirby if one purchases this figure and wants to update from molded pouches/gear then you need to get the TS set for another $20.00 plus shipping and the LCE set is starting to dry up.

Dragon 5th Special Forces Group Colonel 'Mike Kirby' Nam

Dragon makes another new figure an it's not WWII. Back Into the Nam arena.

    http://www.dragonmodelsusa.com/dmlus...p?pid=DRF70172

Mike Kirby 5th special Forces Group Nam. Didn't even know about it until I saw it in a local shop. Not a bad offering, but not great either. They seem to have stepped back instead of forward. Still have molded boots, belt, and pouches. The OD utilities were too green, not what's on the web site, but that could be altered. The M16 wasn't weathered enough, like the Moore set. 3 x 20round mags for the M16. Bowie Knife. He's a bit light in the gear department, and especially for the $50-ish price tag. But , he is a colonel, so he's not going to be humpimg gear through the boonies. TS is still doing better Nam. But if it gets Dragon back into it, that's OK with me, because I am fond of the Dragon Nam figs, even if the detail is off. Sculpt Was good, and what is this new Pot Belly being spoken of? Fat suit, or new body? Most likely a suit, although when I looked at him, the belly wasn't that pronounced.

That's interesting, I did a search before posting, and I got 1 link to Bubbasbasement selling them, and that was the only link.

I dunno, depending on the season and other conditions, I can use that for a mini-me. Just add a "plumber's crack", and it'd be good to go.

I noticed in the MD ads, it's a green beret, not black.

It's that same beret that came with the DML Vietnam Mike Brown... its so dark green, it looks black.

MD is having to sell the potbelly for $25 to try and make a profit on the loose parts for this dog of a release. My question to DML... did we really need a pot bellied figure?

Sorry for bringing back bad memories.

I Saw the figure today in hand. Was plenty light in gear but not all bad. The figure was just under $50. Not 50 bucks good, but not bad. The sculpt was real good, looks like a young John Wayne. The Green Beret was real dark, but not black. M16 A1 is great, but not weathered like the last runs from earlier Nam figs.

Hey it's Dragon. It's not HT or TS. They are done being "Steps ahead..." They Had their time on the top.

They must have a huge pile of those Neo bodies laying around. No Neo3. That would have been a seller if it had that body. The ugly could have been forgiven if they gave us a Neo3. ***Just checked Monkey Depot on that nude. Interesting way to add that belly. Not a fat suit, but a add-on to the body.

I'll take Dragon as a classy TUS/21c anyday. I'll wait for a bit and see if it goes on sale. That's what I did with the new Brit figure. Why doesn't Billy Hicks go on sale geez.

Rhino, the problem with this fig is that you're paying under 50 when you can still get Mike, which has pretty much the same gear sans pot belly nude, for under 35 or under.

John Wayne was way overweight in the Green Beret movie so that must be where DML was going. They already had a fat body from a Cyber Hobby cook figure, (yes, a German WW2 cook) so maybe they wanted to use them up?. I want to get one of these to make an older reservist, cook or file clerk but do not want to pay $25.00.

I just did a little research... only three boxed Kirby figures of the 28 offered on ebay have sold. I wonder how sales are for our favorite online retailers.

Those numbers include multiple figures available from all sellers worldwide.

If anyone is looking for a decent price, I saw him on GSTG for $36 I think. At $45-50 he's pretty disappointing looking, but at $36 I considered picking one up. I ended up buying the SS CIA SAD and TS 1970 Force Recon though...and some 25th Ann. Joes. Sorry Kirby...I ran outta bucks.

Thumbs down Re: DMU Exclusive - U.S. Green Berets"Col. Mike Kirby"

    Whooooas me....
Since I'm new to the hobby, I couldn't wait for my figures to arrive next week and set out to do some reconnaissance around Modesto in hopes of finding a store that had some.

I found Modesto Hobbies & Crafts had one figure, this one. Unfortunately for me I didnt find this thread until I got home.
Krier's Cards & Comics has a ton of Sideshow Star Wars figures and a few X-Files. But no modern military...

I was completely annoyed at the "pot belly". Its hard to see when the figure is dressed, but once I got him home and unboxed him I was like WTF?!?

Here's a picture of the bot belly, its one piece with no seams glued on. From what I can tell is its slid down from the top when added. As I was trying to find a way to remove it.

Well chalk this one up to live and learn....

In some sick way I'm reminded of that pregnant "man" that was on Oprah a few months back...

Thankfully the belly is a soft plastic, and along the spine seems the thinnest point. I was able to work the plastic enough without damaging the body and tear it along the spine to remove the belly. The belly is a complete waste, and ends up blocking the abdominal or waist joint.

    Hello

    I received mine today

I was so surprised by this potbelly I believed he was pregnant !!!

Luckyly with a good pair of sissors, I was able to make him "normal".

If anybody needs the belly I give it for free !
