    G.I. Joe Roadblock

I had two thoughts as soon as I saw the African-American KP02 muscle body from Kaustic Plastik:

    1. He's perfect for Dutch from Black Lagoon
    2. Roadblock!

So, I finally got my custom "classic" G.I. Joe Roadblock bash together, based mostly on his original look in the comics/cartoons/toy racks. Click any thumb to get to the Flickr page where you can see the full-size photos, or hit Roadblock's photo set.

I even snagged one of the DiD M2 50-caliber machine guns specifically for this bash:

Deploying Roadblock in the middle of Borovia. And you know that any time G.I. Joe ends up in Borovia, something's going to go horribly wrong...

    Parts list:

    • Kaustic Plastik KP02 African-American muscle body
    • Magic Cube olive drab tank top and Force 10 tactical pants
    • ACI desert boots
    • X Toys LC2 gear
    • Sideshow L-flashlight.
    • DML (?) Ka-Bar knife and M1911 pistol

The cloth drop holster for the pistol might be Hot Toys. Not really sure.

I might try to get Roadblock together with my classic Stalker bash, but he's coming apart for an upgrade to join the rest of my custom Joes in Mongoose Team 9. Which I swear is coming soon.

Nice job on Roadblock. He was always one of my favorite characters. This is an ice take, has connections to the classic and is updated. Thanks for sharing.

That body works perfectly! I had something very similar in mind but just haven't cleared out other stuff quick enough to get to it. But I'm so glad I got to see someone make this KP bad boy into a Roadblock. Great job blousing the Force 10 pants and fitting those boots!

    Re: G.I. Joe Roadblock

Wow! I'm kinda bowled over by the positive response Roadblock has gotten, so thank you everyone for the really nice feedback. I figured the best way to really thank you all...

    MORE ROADBLOCK!!

And not only more Roadblock, but joined by my semi-80's-era Stalker and Baroness because I'm crazy. First is the height chart, which was not quite as drastic as I thought it would be:

Look at the eye levels and it's easier to tell how much taller the KP02 is from the Hot Toys TrueType Slim that's Stalker's base body, or the TTL female body I used for the Baroness.

    Next, a short two-panel photostory I call "The Baroness...CAPTURED!!!"

Apologies to Larry Hama. I wanted to incorporate the diorama backdrop, but there's just too many characters to use it. Oh, well. Roadblock's photoset has the photos without word balloons if you're dying to see them.

Of note: no tricks or hidden/edited stands to get that second shot. The KP02 is carrying a female figure and the 50-caliber ammo belt (which is all metal bullets and HEAVY) and still standing without any support. Have I mentioned that I really like these bodies?

    Thanks again, everyone!

I love him! (and your other two) I always thought Roadblock should be carrying around a .50 cal (88 lbs empty ,if I recall correctly) instead of a puny laser rifle. My only item to try and fix would be the cloth ammunition belt, I don't think we have used cloth belts in about 100 years (WWI??).
If Sideshow decides to tackle him, I hope they get the body scale right also. I always thought Roadblock should be about the size of Bubba Smith.

Close! The Internet says it's a little over 83 pounds empty (and we all know that if it's on the Internet, it MUST be true! ). Ruining the enemy's day for 91 years and counting!

I know the cloth belt is old, but it's the one that came with the gun. Monkey Depot said it was with a WWII figure. I know COO or ZY Toys are coming out with a boxed modern M2, but I'm not sure I'm motivated enough to blow the cash to get it. Besides, Roadblock is about to get a modern-era makeover to join my modernized team of Joes, and he's going to trade in his Ma Deuce for something a little more compact. Watch this space...

One of my favorite figures as a kid was the '83 version of Roadblock. Great job in translating him to 1/6.

I can't wait. I really liked Resolute's version that gave him a SAW although a M240G being shoulder fired would have been great. Please dont put him in black armor like the movie's Heavy Duty...
