CC's Random WIP's: 7/16: "Hey Dear, Can You Make Me One?"

It's a habit of mine to produce threads showcasing random work.
So, I figured I should just probably have a one-stop clearing shop for future WIP's and random bits... And not on the testing page.
Anyway, here's what I've got up tonight.

DML "human foot" soles mated to TS jungle boots, a GAU-5/A/A converted from a DML XM-177E2 (look closely and you'll see the difference, it's for take two of the Son Tay raider), a custom bolt-cutter bag (also for the Son Tay raider), and a very much WIP diorama of an HH-3E's interior (also for the Son Tay raider).
    Thanks for playing *shuffles deck*

Correct, sir! It was surprisingly easy to make. I took a DML XM-177E2 and carefully sanded it off. Then, I filled in the gouges with greenstuff and a wet finger. A repaint completed the job.

Also, I promised NWO pictures of my OG-107 repaint and here it is. I used the DML Mike uniform (the one with the name tapes and patches) as the base for my Son Tay raider. I repainted the whole thing with Games Workshop paints that I mixed on my own, using Castellan Green as a base and working backwards from there. As this is the second different mix I've made for this particular job, let's call this mix "Strange Box Two."

Repainted uniform and an original example

Strange Brew Two. Don't drink this.

I laid out the uniform and mixed a large amount of Strange Brew Two. I painted the uniform slowly and carefully. You need to make sure not to use too much paint, but it can be scratch off if you do. It's better to apply too light a coat and simply go back and do it again. Once it's painted and dried, boil the uniform in a pot of water and a fistful of salt. This will loosen the fabric (which will be hard from the paint) and should help make it look more even. Repeat this process as needed until the color's nice and even.

Lastly, here's the repainted helicopter interior. I just need to add the fabric seating (when the fabric arrives) and the clips hold said seating up. That black splotch is from glue, needs to be repainted (missed that )

The recoloured uniform looks great, nicely worn-in look...did you use watered down acrylics or fabric paint?

Thank you! I actually painted straight-up acrylic paint onto a wet uniform. Did NOT water it down. Spread the paint using the brush (or your fingers), just make sure it doesn't clump up. Wash the uniform in a bath of boiling saltwater when it's dried, then wash it a second time to remove the salt residue. Let it dry, then touch up with watered down acrylics to get the spots you missed/didn't color sufficiently.

Thanks, Mike! I've got two projects going here: A "retake" for the 21C Group Bash contest and the Son Tay raider. Got some VERY interesting stuff planned for the raider still, currently working with Daewon_ton to create the E&E rucksack for him, among other things. The ironic thing was that the intention behind that guy was to create a "simple" spare parts bash...

Looking great, one question, when are you making the rest of the HH-3?
Seriously though, you could make the side hatch and loading door and have the rescue team charging out....

You and Dok LOL... Too much work.

    New stuff, guys:
Son Tay raider, still a WIP. He's 95% gold though, but it's the same old stuff. Added seatbelts to the heli though. Buckle up for safety!
For the goggles... I think it was Sixth Scale who suggested it, but Testor's "Red Clear" works wonders. Just drip it on the inside until it's all covered, don't paint it on or you'll leave streaks.

Army SF in Afghanistan, circa 2007-2008. Still needs a SERPA MOLLE holster, a shorty M4, and a diorama but otherwise he's pretty much done.

    MK-23 and Daewon_ton: Thank you!
Here's the SF guy's M4. Yeah, I sucked at getting things into focus here :/ Gonna give the SF guy a CIRAS vest now, but I'm gonna need to repaint it before showing pictures of that.

Also, some random photoshop fun. He's now done except for the rucksack, which will come courtesy of Daewon_ton as part of a crazy customs trade (thanks, man!) Rank tabs have been added, the GAU-5/A/A has been finished, the grenades are done, and he now has the all-important megaphone (thanks trnswrp10 and Doktor Von Evil for help in the search for one.)
