Guys I need your help. I have been approached to do a fairly extensive commission/donation (Museum quality stuff) for the lobby of the Colorado Army National Guard Headquarters. I am working on figures that represent local volunteer soldiers from the eras of the Civil War through today in the War on Terror. They will be in the display cases right alongside of the actual uniform/equipment artifacts from the eras in the Headquarters lobby.
This encompasses the American Civil War, Indian Wars, Spanish American War, Expedition against Pancho Villa, World War One, World War Two, Korea, Vietnam, Peacekeeping missions in the Balkans, and Afghanistan/Iraq.
I’m doing it in two sections. The first, which I am in the process of right now will be five figures, one horse, and if possible a cannon from the era of 1860-1865. (These are due for a dedication ceremony by March 15th, 2007.)
Here’s what I have in mind for the first group –
ACW - Artilleryman and 12 pounder Cannon.
Indian Wars - Major Edward Wynkoop 3rd Colo. Volunteer Cavalry (Mounted)
Spanish American War – CMH winner Lt. Col. William R. Grove
Expedition against Pancho Villa - I'm still working on the research.
WWI – 40th Infantry Division in France.
I have started finding the parts for the figures and re-sculpting the heads for specific individuals. The horse is done and awaiting his rider.
But I have a problem with the Cannon. I don't have one of the Sideshow offerings from several years ago so I have to scratch build one. I have the resin barrel and the wheels in 1/6th scale. I have a line drawing of the wooden/metal carriage for the piece, but I don’t have the measurements for the size of the carriage.
If anyone has any plans or web link for 1:1 plans with dimensions for a Civil War 12 pound Napoleon, could you PM or e-mail me. I can scratch build the carriage if I can get some measurements to start.
If you're a Colorado member and want to donate anything let me know. The Guard's budget is limited and I think most of what I do will end up being an out of pocket donation. So I'm not proud, let me know if you want to help.
Thanks for your help. I’m gonna need it!!!
