Arrow 'Nikolai' - Russian PMC in Afghanistan, 2005

Nikolai was a young 18 yr old Russian 'desantnik' when Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in 1979. After ten years of fighting and witnessing the death of many of his comrades, he looked visibly older than he was.

The collapse of communism filled Nikolai's mind with uncertainty, but he decided to stick his guns with the VDV during the lean years, deploying to various autonomous republics that were breaking away. In 1994, Nikolai, now a NCO was again thick in action when Russia invaded Chechnya. Experiences gained from numerious street fightings honed him into a well-oiled mean fighting machine.

Finally in 2000, frustrated with poor co-ordination and support which cost the lives of many of his men, Nikolai decided to throw in the towel and leave his beloved VDV. Travelling around Moscow, Nikolai eventually found a job providing personal security to a rich oil businessman. This was his introduction to the world of PMCs.

Two years later with only a smattering of English, Nikolai flew to USA to join an American Private Security Company. In 2004, Nikolai was deployed back to Afghanistan to provide personal security to high-ranking civilian offcials. It seems events have come full circle for him....

Although civilian hiking boots are more popular, Nikolai has chosen to wear his trusted Russian Para jump boots. He wears a blue and white striped telnyashki and Afghan pakol and shemag to blend in. He is carrying a AK-74 SOPMOD, heavily modified by American accessories.

Hi everyone, this story is in no way accurate, just something I conjured up to fit the bash... Hope u guys enjoy it!

Man, that is KILLER! The backstory is worth a comic!

And that AK-74 SOPMOD is a beaut.

It all comes together nicely visually, and the backstory helps it even more. Looks great and looks like it was a fun one to put together. Yeah, love the sweet AK mod.

Jaded is so overrated. Cynicism is so last year. Misery has enough company. Dare to be happy.

He's definitely "walking the walk", as a lot of Afghans remember the Telnyashka with less than happy memories. Like Kuroi says, this would make a great extended story.

    CPL HO:
Great figure and backgrouend. Question is the trickled out AK 74 from Red horse or a personal modification?

    another sweet bash Cpl HO
    but i'd ditch the Telnyashki
he is just asking to be a target
it would surely make a sniper itchy to nail him big time
like pd said "a lot of Afghans remember the Telnyashka with less than happy memories"

Thanx everyone! The Telnyashki does indeed look a little striking... The AK is indeed Red Horse with rails customised and painted black, and accesories added...

More pics of Russian PMC, this time with more subtle top and another AK74 SOPMOD... Most of the gears are from BBI 'Raider', my first 1/6 figure... Guess things have come full circle for me too...
