I'm a new member and have just gotten into 1/6 Military AFs 2 months ago. I have been buying up stuff like a storm (I have bought from ActionToysHK, Lietzman & Ironcross Hunter, along with a bunch of companies from the States)! What I was wondering is if there are real 1/6 working flashlights out there, if so, where and how much?
If not, I have been designing and working on a prototype for a real working flashlight (Looks like a MagLite & search light). The second question is, "Are members here interested in buying something like this (I will trade for this also)? If so, how much are you willing to pay?
I know a flashlight company and after my design is complete I want to show them so maybe they can manufacture this on a mass market and then I may be able to sell them cheaply. The battery is a miniture 12V battery which costs only about $1 in Korea (equivalent to a "D" size battery for 1/6 figures) and the bulbs are basically Christmas tree lights, so you would not have to worry about rediculous costs to maintain the flashlight.
This is not going to be done soon, but probably next year. The prototype should be done by December and I will post it on the website.
I just want to see how many of you out there would be interested in something like this.
That sounds like a pretty interesting idea. Id like to give you a couple of suggestions if you dont mind. These are my dumb ideals if you use any of them can I get a free flashlight.
1)Instead of "D" size batteries use watch batteries.
2)LEDs last for thousands of hours vs light bulbs.
3)Have an on/off switch (I assume you would have something like that on it already).
4)Consider making a flashlight that you can attach to a 1/6 scale rifle, with a red LED to simulate infrared and a plain white light.
5)Make it battery pack small enough that it can fit into a 1/6 scale backpack.
6)Welcome to OSW and good luck.
Its not a real "D" size battery, it is comparable to 1/6 "D!" So the battery is quiet small.
It will have on/off switches as well. As well as screw caps for the front and back of the lights to change batteries and bulbs. It will be a real working flashlight, just like the the 1:1 counterparts!

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I thought I was going to have to stuff a D size battery in a 1/6 backpack lol. Im looking forward to seeing the finish product.
I saw a guy selling a 1/6 SOCOM pistol with working flashlight on e-bay a long time ago, he used he drilled a hole in the light module and put an LED in then he wired it to a 9V battery I think, putting the wires from the pistol up the figures sleeve.
Wow, that's really cool. But is the unit self contained? Not some wire which goes up and into his backpack where the battery is.
I thought about something like that too, where the magazine clips would hold the penlight batteries. Hence, you can take the weapon off the AF and not have to worry about fumbling with some wire which is attached to his back and it would still work separatedly from the figure. Did you do that? If you did, it is a great job!
I notice the light is pretty bright. What voltage did you use if you made this? I tried the 1.5V batts and it was just too weak. I'm now using a 12V miniture battery and I tested it. At 1/6 scale it would shine about 50 feet (at 1:1 I could see things pretty well at 10 feet). The spread was pretty wide so I'm trying to figure out a way to try and give it a spot light effect which would make it shot even farther.
What I want to do is have the unit totally self-contained. It will work without trying to stick some battery in his vests/packs.
Keep in touch and really let me know who did this. I would like to ask more questions about this. Great pict!

hehe, that's my little 1/6 project site, hope you guys like it.
The d@** vibrator motor just won't work and the other motors are just too big for gatling gun. Thinking of rigging a whole electrical system on a Hummer, if I can get my hands on one. So many ideas, so little time.......... (or rather, too lazy to get off my butt to carry on )
Couldn't find them loose at my local electronics chop-shop. Not sure if they are small enough though. Right now, I'm thinking of strapping on the motor to the side of the gatling.

Have you thought of a vibrator motor from a pager or cell phone? In some models (not sure which) the motor is in the battery, and in others it's in the unit itself. They are quite small. Not sure of voltage reqs.

Yup, I did. In fact they are the exact same motor(1.5V) as the one in the vibrating sex-toy. Powerful when you use it one a lady, but useless when it comes to powering 6 barrels.
When I first got back into 1/6th a while back..and I mean a while!...a freind modified a DML Bill Figure with a working laser coming out of the tac light of MP5. It is so cool..yes I still have it and it still works. Working flashlight would be cool.
