Who does Marine Jack Sullivan fear more? The Japanese pouring onto the beseiged island, or Gunny when he catches Sullivan with his shirt not tucked in?

Uniform and gear looks OK, and the water-cooled Browning's nice.

This figure is a winner. A real knock out of the park for me. I have been waiting for an early Pacific War Yank with a Khaki Chino uniform for over five years. For those disappointed that he won't come with a Springfield Rifle, we can always lobby Dragon to make a Bataan Peninnsula American Infantryman!

Admittedly, I'm getting all three of DML's Marines now. Also, MDFC has hinted that Mike Walker, our resident USMC Tanker, will indeed have leggings.

Strange & different
Nice head-sculp on this guy. I think when I look at him, I'm seeing a tough guy that grew up during the lean, hard years of the Depression that finally caught a break when he joined the Marines. Now, here he is, sitting on Wake Island and the Japanese have started their assault. He's resigned to doing whatever he can, however he can to make "somebody" pay for all his hard knocks. Pity the Japanese, 'cause he's gonna take one hell of an honor guard with him when he goes. Shoot--he ain't even thinking he's gonna die! He's thinking about all those soon-to-be-dead Sons of Nippon going home for Hirohito, the poor bassards!
Yah, more's the pity he doesn't have a Springfield with him. This guy coulda been OUTSTANDING if he was tricked-out like an early war Soldat, with a complete, massive load-out of early war gear. The bashing potential woulda been over the top!
Still, I ain't throwing stones at him. He just made the "I gotta have him" list! Ain't all worked-up over the .30 cal, since I'm plenty happy with my 21C water-cooled, but the rest of him looks mighty fine for the rest of my early war troops.

I am definately going to get this figure. I hope that they make a regular belt for him though.

Maybe DML could slap together another Marine with this uniform, the M1923 web belt and 03 Springfield from 'Alan', and throw in the cloth-covered scabbard and long bayonet. Recycled? Definitely. Would I buy it? Hell Yes.
As we discussed a bit in chat, Hasbro 'Battleship Row Defender' sets are still out there, with the big, water-cooled .50 cal machinegun. I believe those were on Wake as well. A sailor in dungarees, web kit, helmet, and armed with a Springfield, Thompson, or BAR would do too.

Wouldn't they have to redo the Springfield though?
They could use the khakis to do a Phillippines defender. If they want to do early war stuff, keep the 30 cal put some dungarees on the guy and they've got a perfect Pearl Harbor - Midway guy.

The DML "Alan" 1903 Springfield is the version the USMC carried, with iron sights. The mounts for the Unertl scope pop into two slots on top of the rifle. All they'd have to do is file off the nibs that cause those slots, in the mold, or fill and remold a few rifles.
