    Soviet Rifleman Lithuania August 1941

Mostly just showing off the new helmet. Still need to make a grenade pouch, ration pouch, properly attach the rain cape, replace the hands, collar insignia, etc. The devil is in the details.

That's the mutt's nuts, Frasmet. Did you make the M1936 helmet and M1938 pack? They look fantastic.

Helmet and pack are entirely my own creation. Pack needs to be re-made it's a bit too big.

The pack is hand sewn I sorta hosed the scale I made the pattern it's too big.

The helmet was sculpted in wax recast in resin and then I spent a lot of time resurfacing with Bondo spot putty and sanding, about 50-60 hours total. Still needs a few minor tweaks then it'll be ready for to recast again.

The pattern is guess work based on all of the photos I collected from either books ( very limited) or the web. Ebay turned out to be very helpful in providing good all round photos. The problem of scale comes drawing out the pattern and then trying to determine how big it should be compared to the figure. It's a total guess and you won't know if it right or wrong until it's finished. Now if I could find athletic tape that was 4 inches wide I could prototype one in about an hour.
