    E-Bay 100% Feedback Score ???

I bid for and won a figure at a very low price, knowing that the shipping was expensive, before paying for the item I sent the seller a PM asking why shipping took 13-15 days instead of Registered Mail postage 3-5 days. ( He`s just 120 miles away) His reply

    "hi,
sorry but i can't find this figure. i have a photo list on the
computer of items i have for ebay, i must have sold it earlier and
forgot to delete it. there are a number of other items that i can't
    find.
    apologies
    stuart"

His feedback WAS 100% for over 800 transactions, I thought he was bonafide. ...NOT.... upon closer inspection he`d only sold 2 items this year, and the detailed feedback for the previous years showed he`d did this before i.e LOST the item as well as many complaints of extremely slow shipping despite exagerated postage costs and passing off reproduction for real,
I suppose my question is surely there must be a more efficient way of conveying the integrity of a seller other than trailing through pages of feedback as score of 100% means nothing!
    Sorry for the rant

ive had multiple problems with sellers, and a couple with buyers. almost all had 100% positive feedback. feedback doesnt count count for much now.

No luckily I had not payed yet, this was the item:-http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170369349516&ssPageNam e=STRK:MEWAX:IT
I`ve learned an important lesson :- Always Check the detailed comments First...... Why didn`t he put a reserve on it as my maximum bid was more than £20

    Re: E-Bay 100% Feedback Score ???

Yeah, being both an active seller and buyer on eBay, I always tell people
to check feedback comments. Some have 100%, but the comments reflect
the type of seller they truely are. If they have not been active for a long
time, that's also kind of a red flag. So I look through comments everytime.

A great example: an asian seller(I won't put her eBay ID) parts out and
sells a ton of 1/6 figures. However, she puts everything in British Pounds
(even though she's not on ebayUK) and charges a ton for shipping.
If people don't take the time to use a currency
converter, they won't know until they pay. Though it's not exactly what
you went through and she is active most of the time, by checking her feedback,
you will see even though she has 100%, she has many comments
on the highway robbery in shipping cost & rates very low in
    that star.

I think that it might be best if a seller has one part of their star rating very low,
then it should effect the 100% overall. But, we work with what we got.
So, I always read the feedback comments.

    Better safe than sorry.

    Nice catch Lancer.

    "puts everything in British Pounds
(even though she's not on ebayUK) and charges a ton for shipping."

This totally happened to me when I was a wee ebayer. Lesson learned. I was also taken more than once on recasts.
Case in point - research the seller before you place the bid. Takes only a few minutes.

Check first. If you know an item is "pricey" and the seller is a bit "dicey", you can count on something wrong after "you win yourself a bargain".

    Re: E-Bay 100% Feedback Score ???

I've been pretty lucky with the vast majority of my eBay deals but the one or two problems I did have taught me to be wary- now I tend to stick to just a few of the main 1/6th dealers. 9/10 they have the best prices anyway.

My main piece of advice is to double check the combined shipping options- some dealers definitely overcharge on single items but there are a few unscrupulous dealers who really gouge you on the combined shipping charges. $6 for a single small item is a bit much but wanting, for example, $10.20 for two small items is ridiculous.

    Re: E-Bay 100% Feedback Score ???

A little double-checking goes a long way. Aside from my preferred trusted sellers, I always check the seller's feedback (including comments) and always check to see if they combine shipping (if it doesn't say, I ask them). Unless the shipping costs are pretty low to begin with or the items are large and/or heavy, if a seller will not combine shipping they are simply ripping you off. I suppose it should go without saying that if you do a lot of business on eBay you should have at least a rough idea of the current exchange rates between dollars, pounds and euros.
I have been pretty fortunate on eBay so far, not yet having the horror-experiences with buyers or sellers that some have detailed...but it really is just a matter of time before the Law of Averages catches up.
